The Annual Parade of Thoroughbred Stallions at the RDS. This parade gives breeders a chance of seeing these stallions up close. Thoroughbred bloodlines can be found in may of the top Irish bred eventing and show jumping horses. Cloverhill was by a thoroughbred sire and while some thoroughbred bloodlines can be found in the ancestry of the Irish draught Horse the importance of the thoroughbred to Irish Draught breeders is that its gives them an alternative to breeding a pure bred Irish draught horse. A lot of performance horses are half thoroughbred 1/2 bred or 3/4 bred or 7/8 bred. Thoroughbred blood seems to be essential in 3 day eventing horses. Thoroughbred horses have always been considered improver to improve bloodlines significantly from one generation to the next so they used to be very popular with breeders who had mediocre mares and required a large improvement in the progeny in 1 generation.
