Wilbur Gary Bell (born November 17, 1936), nicknamed "Ding Dong", is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher. He pitched from 1958-1969 for four different teams in his career, but is noted primarily for his time with the Cleveland Indians. During a 12-year baseball career, Bell compiled 121 wins, 1,378 strikeouts, and an 3.68 earned run average.
In his first two years, Bell compiled a 28-21 record as part of the Cleveland pitching rotation. In 1960, his record was 5-1 after the first month of play, but shoulder problems developed, causing him to win just four of his last 13 decisions. In late August, he was sent home for the remainder of the season to deal with the malady. The following year, Bell got off to a slow start with an 0-4 record and finished with a 12-16 mark. Physical problems as well as issues with pitch control were tabbed as the main reasons for his continued struggles.
In 1962, he was converted into a reliever, helping the Indians by picking up over 10 saves in 1962 and 1966. Bell picked up a 2.95 ERA in the 1963 season in 58 appearances (51 out of the bullpen). He went 8-5 that year, a solid year with an Indians team that finished under .500 (79-83). Bell was a fastball pitcher early in his career and then developed a good slider and curveball.
A bell is a simple idiophone percussion instrument. Although bells come in many forms, most are made of metal cast in the shape of a hollow cup, whose sides form a resonator which vibrates in a single tone upon being struck. The strike may be made by a "clapper" or "uvula" suspended within the bell, by a separate mallet or hammer, or—in small bells—by a small loose sphere enclosed within the body of the bell.
Bells are usually made by casting metal, but small bells can also be made from ceramic or glass. Bells range in size from tiny dress accessories to church bells 5 metres tall, weighing many tons. Historically, bells were associated with religious rituals, and before mass communication were widely used to call communities together for both religious and secular events. Later, bells were made to commemorate important events or people and have been associated with the concepts of peace and freedom. The study of bells is called campanology.
A set of bells, hung in a circle for change ringing, is known as a ring or peal of bells.

Ein Sterbelied Auf Metall
scharfe zungen wie gewetzte klingen
ein scheusal alt, heimtïckisch und kalt
massen im trichter des blutes sich ballend
wenn stahl ist die formulierung einer Tat
erscheinungen mit ringen gefestigt
gtterschwïrme verblassen im neuen glanz
in finsternis wollen sie zugrunde gehen
wie das von uns nie gesehene gold
in des einen kraft versinkt die freiheit
fïr das fleisch welches unterzugehen vermag
durch die herzen
bohrt sich das sterbelied auf metall
ein ehrgeiziges werk
im schicksal der jahrtausende
krnze der hoffnung
streuen verwïstende blïten
leben kïsst den kod mit breitem mund
ein volk am rande der nacht
wenn es brennt
am stahl der einsamkeit
doch trïume erklingen rastlos
vor dem kessel des letzten heizers
ich mensch,
der von der erinnerung singt
...und im schatten
