Will US Fight China's Internet Censorship? | China Uncensored
The United States intervening in China's Internet censorship practices. That's what a group of Chinese reporters/bloggers called for in a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry during a meeting at the US Embassy in Beijing. They asked Kerry to help 'tear down the firewall." That's the Great Firewall of China, the nickname for the Golden Shield Project, the censorship apparatus the Chinese regime uses to keep an iron grip on the Internet. But will the US be willing to go toe to toe with the Chinese Communist Party? China's plans to become a military superpower
China arms race: China's military modernisation threatens US supremacy in the Pacific and could provoke a new arms race. Already, the Taiwanese are trying to buy six US destroyers to counter this perceived threat. For downloads and more information visit: http://journeyman.tv/57504/short-films/china-arms-race.html "China wants to become the stabilising power in the Far East", states military expert Junichi Abe. "This threatens US supremacy in the area". China already has the largest army in the world. It plans to build five atomic submarines, with the capability of attacking America. "China has a desperate craving for nuclear power", states Zhang Jianabo. But the real motivation for China's militarization is believed to be Taiwan. "China seeks to inhibit the autonomy of Taiwan", claims Abe. In such a scenario, Presidential advisor Michael Green believes: "the USA and Japan cannot help but become military involved." As its military and economy have grown, so too have China's dreams of dominating an island chain centered on Taiwan and including Japan's Senkakus. China's increased belligerence in the region is part of its plan to control the Yellow Sea, the South China Sea and the larger East China Sea. Its military doctrine refers to dominance over the "first island chain," which encompasses the East China Sea. The next step is dominance over what Beijing calls the second island chain extending from Japan to Indonesia. Some analysts have even speculated about plans for a third island chain strategy extending as far as Hawaii. As part of its plans, China on Saturday announced an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) in the East China Sea effective Nov. 23. Its military will take "defensive emergency measures" if aircraft enter the area without reporting flight plans or identifying themselves. China's defense ministry warned in a statement that all aircraft that fail to comply with its new rules for transit through the zone could be shot down. Media reports say that the ministry issued a map showing the new East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone, including what the Chinese call the Diaoyu Islands. The map of the new defense zone, pulled off a Chinese website, shows that it overlaps Japan's defense zone over the Senkakus, a group of uninhabited islands located south of Okinawa and north of Taiwan that sit atop significant oil deposits. Tensions escalated in February when Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe denounced what he said was China's use of fire-control radar in January twice on Japanese targets in the East China Sea. Japan's Defense Ministry said that it sent jets up 306 times in the 12 months ended in March 2013 and 149 times in the April-September period in response to Chinese incursions. The islands became Japan's territory after it defeated China in their 1894-1895 war. It was only after a 1968 United Nations survey reported the huge oil and gas potential of the area that Beijing began to protest the 1972 U.S. return of the islets to Japanese control as part of Okinawa. The U.S. is obligated to defend the islands under the 1960 U.S.- Japan Security Treaty, which covers all territories under Japanese administration, including the Senkakus http://news.investors.com/112513-680586-beijing-east-china-sea-maritime-grab.htm?ven=fox_businesscp&src;=aurlaeu- published: 08 Dec 2013

China's Water Crisis | China Uncensored
Lately there's been a lot of talk about Chinese air pollution; smog so thick, you can barely see the streets of Beijing. But what you might not know is that China is facing a major water crisis. Rivers are drying up and there's not enough water to go around. And what little water there is has been so polluted by chemical and industrial run off, it's undrinkable. And if the Three Gorges Dam didn't cause enough trouble, the next great public work sure will. It's called The South-North Diversion Project, and will link up the Yellow River with the Yangtze River, hopefully funneling water from the south to the water starved North. All it takes is drilling through the Himalayas. http://e.ntd.tv/NTDtelevision Subscribe for more China Uncensored: http://www.youtube.com/ntdchinauncensored Make sure to share with your friends! ______________________________ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChinaUncensored Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ChinaUncensored Google+: https://plus.google.com/+NTDChinaUncensored/ ______________________________ MOBILE LINKS:- published: 13 Jan 2014

China's Yutu "Jade Rabbit" Lunar Rover lands on Moon
China's Yutu "Jade Rabbit" Lunar Rover lands on Moon
China has landed the first rover on the moon in 37 years, since the height of the space race, with its Yutu "Jade Rabbit" Lunar Rover, carried by the Chang'e 3 (嫦娥3號) spacecraft. This is also the first soft landing of a spacecraft on the lunar surface in nearly four decades, making it a significant step in the country's ambitious space programme which plans to send a manned mission to the moon by 2030. The robotic craft landed in Sinus Iridum, a lava-filled crater 249 km in diameter. Just outside the crater was the landing site of the Soviet Lunokhod 1 rover, sent by The Soviet Luna 17 Mission in the 1970's. Lunokhod was the first roving remote-controlled robot to land on another celestial body. America was the first nation to send lunar roving vehicles designed to carry humans, however these were not robotic and were controlled by astronauts. The Yutu Rover, which translates as Jade Rabbit, stands 150 centimeters high, or nearly 5 feet -- human height. It weighs approximately 120 kilograms. Chinese scientists are hoping to gather valuable information on lunar soil from this new rover, which contains some of the most advanced space technology ever developed in china including autonomous radar installed at the bottom of the rover can penetrate 100 meters deep below the surface to study the Moon's structure and composition in unprecedented detail. The rover also contains multiple cameras, spectrometers and sports a robotic arm equipped with advanced science instruments including a drill that can bore into moon rock and take microscopic images and perform spectroscopy. The Chang'e-3 lander also contains cameras and an optical telescope and is powered by a combination of solar arrays and a nuclear battery in order to survive the two week long lunar nights. Chinese space officials expect the lander and rover to function a minimum of 1 year. Meanwhile, the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program will use the overall mission specs itself to see how to make an ideal manned moon landing in the coming decades. Ouyang Ziyuan, a prominent Chinese geologist and cosmochemist, is the senior advisor of China's lunar probe project. Professor Ziyuan was among the first people to advocate the exploitation not only of known lunar reserves of metals such as iron, but also of lunar helium-3, an ideal fuel for future nuclear fusion power plants. Therefore the science, engineering and industry base in China have a strong incentive to explore and colonise the moon. Lunar exploration has long been seen as the most significant way to gain a stronghold in space, with both the former Soviet Union and United States waging a space race in the 1960's to claim dominance of the moon. Now, that race has long since ended but in the East developing nations such as China and India are testing new technologies and probing astrophysics to try and claim their piece of space. The next step for the Chinese would be to deploy a series of lunar soil sample return missions, which would not only help their own independent understanding of the elements on the moon but would also help them complete the important technical preparations to send people to the moon and safely return them back to the earth. China has shown the largest developments in space exploration with its satellite, rocket and space station technologies and now is setting its sights on the moon to try and study the unique resources there. Such resources, such as helium-3, water and heavier elements will undoubtedly help humanity make the push towards manned missions to Mars and beyond but would also help life on earth as we move towards a more advanced civilization.- published: 14 Dec 2013

Drug Frenzy: China's New Consumer Boom - Part 1
Drugs are pouring out of Burma into a booming China. With cash to spend and a rocketing drug culture, it's a social and legal time bomb. For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=65996&bid;=2 Heroin and other dangerous drug traffic is pouring out of a newly unshackled Myanmar and into a booming, cashed-up China. As the country's drug culture sky-rockets, the narcotics are threatening social chaos. China is now a major international supplier of precursor chemicals for the manufacture of the frightening and ruinous drug Ice and other new-generation drugs. "The quickest way to make a fortune is to deal drugs - to sell drugs here", Professor Wu Jiang tell us. This report takes us right into the heart of the illicit tearaway trade on the Myanmar border, where drugs flow through in huge quantities. But for the Chinese it's not just the through traffic of drugs that's worrying. "The number of drug dealers doesn't seem to change much, but there are many more drug users", a Chinese man on the border explains. In the super-cities like Shanghai, unlike previous generations China's partying young are driving a booming market in so-called recreational drugs. It has become, "fun and fashionable to take drugs". One credible report estimates the number of registered drug addicts has grown from 70,000 in 1990 to nearly 2 million a year ago. The number of regular drug users may be as high as 12 million. If it continues to grow exponentially, it's a social, health and legal time bomb for the Chinese authorities. ABC Australia- published: 14 Oct 2013

China's 9-Dash Claim in South China Sea is Rubbish - 10 Reasons Why
China's 9-Dash Claim in South China Sea is Rubbish - 10 Reasons Why
Most international law experts believe that China's so-called "indisputable sovereignty" over its maritime claim in the South China Sea has little merit, and is illegal under the United Convention on the Law of the Sea. The United States said that China's expansive claim increase the risk of confrontation, undermine regional stability, and dim the prospects for diplomacy, and paved the way for "US pivot" to Pacific. Philippines declares the claim is illegal and violates Philippines' and other nations' sovereign rights under UNCLOS. The Vietnamese president said that it has no legal foundation and scientific basis and rejected China's assertion. China defends its claim citing historical basis, most of which were taken from its imperial archives and ancient records. It has recently intensified its claim in the South China Sea which many believe to be a "gunboat diplomacy" against its weaker maritime neighbors. South China Sea is composed of three main areas: Spratlys, (the biggest); Paracel, (the next biggest); and Scarborough Shoal (the smallest). All of them are being claimed by People's Republic of China and Taiwan. Spratlys is also being claimed partly by the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, and Indonesia; Scarborough by the Philippines; and Paracel by Vietnam.- published: 17 Nov 2013
