Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE), Open Invention Network (OIN), and The Linux Foundation announced today the launch of the Asian Legal Network. The Asian Legal Network was established to provide a leading forum for sharing knowledge and best practices regarding Free Software legal affairs, particularly those that relate to market participants in Asia.

Get candidates for this years’ European elections to make a stand for Free Software

04 March 2014:

From May 22 to 25 in 2014 European citizens will vote for candidates standing for the European Parliament. This is an ideal time to engage with politicians with why Free Software matters. Help us to get the candidates across Europe to declare their support for Free Software.

…Stefan "Penny" Harmuth! The election period for this year's Fellowship GA seat has ended on February 28. There was just one candidate running for the Fellowship GA seat this time. The more we are happy that still 20,3% of our Fellows took their chance to support Stefan Harmuth in his run for the seat.

FSFE comments on UK proposal on document formats

FSFE has submitted comments on a proposal by the UK government to use only document formats based on Open Standards in future.

Monthly Fellowship meeting in Vienna, Austria

21 March 2014

For a change, the Vienna Fellowship meeting this month will be at the venue called "Tunnel", located in the Florianigasse 9 in the 8th discrict of Vienna. We'll be there from 18:00, with agenda related discussions starting at 19:00. As usual, this invitation is for everyone interested in the FSFE or Free Software. We're looking forward to seeing you there!

Free and open source Software, Brussels, Belgium

Together with Stefano Zacchiroli (Debian) and Simon Phipps (Open Source Initiative, MariaDB Foundation), FSFE's Vice President Matthias Kirschner will discuss the challenges of Free Software. The panel discussion is from 14:00 until 15:00. The conference is organised by the European Pirates and MEP Amelia Andersdotter and takes place in the European Parliament and is free of charge.

FSFE at the 13th "Augsburger Linux-Infotag"

FSFE is present with an information and merchandise booth at the 13th "Linux-Infotag Augsburg". The event takes place on 23 March 2014 from 9:30 to 17:30 in the IT faculty of the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Admission is free.
