KUALA LUMPUR: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) recorded a payout of approximately RM2.2 billion the previous year, an increase of RM180 million from last year, said Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Ismail Abd Muttalib.

"Survivors' pension to 203,296 recipients formed the majority of the payout last year, amounting to over RM762.2 million."

This was followed by invalidity pension and grant (RM453.6 million), permanent disablement benefit (RM392.7 million), dependents' benefit (RM219.7 million) and temporary disablement benefit (RM150.2 million).

However, he  noted that the increase in number of registered employees were also a factor in the rise in benefit payments.

He was speaking to reporters after launching the third edition of Socso's Guidelines on Impairment and Disability Assessment of Traumatic Injuries, Occupational Diseases and Invalidity book here yesterday.
