Me quoted in Fairfax papers on tax haven use
Me quoted by Georgia Wilkins in The Age (and other Fairfax publications) today. John Passant, from the school of political science and international relations, at the Australian National University, said the trend noted by Computershare was further evidence multinationals did not take global regulators seriously. ”US companies are doing this on the hard-nosed basis that any [regulatory] changes that will be made won’t have an impact on their ability to avoid tax,” he said. ”They think it is going to take a long time for the G20 to take action, or that they are just all talk.” (1)

A wages explosion?

Last year wage increases averaged 2.7%, down from 4%.This is the lowest level of wage increases in 16 years.

Inflation is 2.6%. Oh, and productivity has grown 2.2%, with most of the rewards going to capital.

Capital’s share of national income is at almost record highs, that of labour at almost record lows.

The problem for workers isn’t a wages explosion. It is the lack of a wages explosion.

They don’t factor enough variables in when measuring inflation. The carbon tax for example should included in these figures.

I’m seeing the rapid rise of inflation right now, particularly in food prices.
