Community spirit is a group of people working together to help improve the community they live in.[citation needed] A sign of community spirit is Meals on Wheels were people prepare dishes for the elderly who cant make their meals daily. A phrase used to describe local people working together for a mutually positive and sometimes pleasurable result. This could be apparent at a community fair, a school fete, or in more practical situations where a local is in need of help and the community rally round to provide appropriate support. Other events that create community spirit could include charitable events at the community or church hall, or even putting together a team of volunteers to walk through local streets and clear them of rubbish.
The measure of community spirit is subjective, but could be considered by looking at the level of achievement from deeds done by the community alongside the level of contentment of the locals.
Community spirit is associated with voluntary work, favours and gestures of good will by residents and local businesses. Local voluntary organisations such as Neighbourhood Watch or the Women's Institute often help create community spirit.

Danny Rampling is a British House Music DJ and is widely credited as one of the original founders of the UK's rave/club scene. His long career began in the early 1980s playing hip-hop, soul and funk around numerous bars and clubs in London.
During a holiday in Ibiza in 1987, Rampling, along with fellow DJs Paul Oakenfold and Nicky Holloway, attended Amnesia, a then open air nightclub in San Rafael. At the club the group were introduced to the unique eclectic style of DJ Alfredo, playing, among other genres, the new house music that had been exported from the USA. The group also discovered the music's powerful combination with the drug Ecstasy,(MDMA) that reduced inhibitions and created a sense of oneness on the dance floor.
Upon his return to England, Rampling, along with his then wife, Jenny, attempted to recreate the Ibizan experience by promoting what is regarded as the UK's first Balearic rave club, Shoom. Shoom ran for three years, starting out at a gym in Southwark, London. It was a launching point for acid house culture[citation needed], while contributing to worldwide dance culture.
