What happened? Edit: Here's just a little insight for you. An argument that had began on the Becoming YouTube panel at VidCon had spread to Twitter and had gotten very heated. The argument was based around sexism that had spread from the Women On YouTube discussion on the Becoming YouTube panel. During a back and forth argument between Benjamin Cook and Kayley Hyde, Ben tweeted this: http://media.tumblr.com/2c85efe10e0ce9b985ee1a989b4aae5f/tumblr_inline_mqyfhhYBfK1qz4rgp.png This is what annoyed me. I kept my nose out of the whole argument regarding patriarchy and sexist tones of the panel as I wasn't there, but this tweet annoyed me. While I have no issue with Ben personally, this tweet just screamed at me. To me, it implied that he is better than someone else because his work 'inspired' more people. This was just a low blow. He had every reason to defend his corner while the argument was exploding, I get that. But I felt that this tweet was uncalled for and for me, personally, it showed that getting bigger on YouTube can go to your head and make you feel superior to others which is not what YouTube or it's community should be about. As a community, we should respect the work of our peers and listen when they think we have talked or acted out of line. We are all in this together and we should be open to that. That's what this community used to hold above it's head. Now it seems like that is all slowly fading away and the bridge between 'Famous' YouTubers and it's community is growing ever further apart.
