http://www.conservation.org Learn more about the rarest otter in the world, the hairy-nosed otter, and see the only known hairy-nosed otter in captivity. These important animals were thought be extinct until just recently! They are an apex (top) predator in the Tonle Sap lake in Cambodia. That means that they help maintain healthy fish populations for the millions of Cambodians who depend on the fish for protein. Conservation International is working to protect this vital species and improve the lives of Cambodians through education and monitoring on the lake, as well as supporting the Phnom Tamao Zoological Park and Wildlife Rescue Center where this otter now lives. Melbourne Zoo 2007 Part I HD 720p
-The Royal Melbourne Zoological Gardens, commonly known as the Melbourne Zoo, contains more than 350 animal species from Australia and around the world. The zoo is 4 km north of the centre of Melbourne.Melbourne Zoo is Australia's oldest zoo and was modeled on London Zoo. The zoo was opened on the Royal Park site of 55 acres (22 hectares) in 1862 on land donated by the City of Melbourne. Before this, animals were housed at the botanical gardens in Melbourne.Initially the zoo was important for the acclimatisation of domestic animals recovering from their long trip to Australia. It was only with the appointment of Albert Alexander Cochrane Le Souef in 1870 that more exotic animals were procured for public display, and the gardens and picnic areas were developed.Zoological collections now play an important role in regional conservation and research programs, educational activities and international breeding programs for endangered species. The zoo is set among flower gardens and picnic areas. Many of the animals are now organised in bioclimatic zones: African rainforest featuring gorillas, mandrills, pigmy hippos and parrots; Asian Rainforest with tigers and otters; and the Australian Bush with koala, kangaroos, emu, echidnas and endangered hairy nose wombats. Popular exhibits also include the Butterfly house, the great flight aviary and the Trail of the Elephants.

Clever pangolin gets a snack! Pangolin Rehabilitation Center - Conservation International (CI)
http://www.conservation.org This hungry pangolin happily chowing down on ants was confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade. Caught in a snare trap, it lost one of its limbs, and as a result, it cannot be returned to the wild. It now lives at Cambodia's Pangolin Rehabilitation Center at Phnom Tamao Zoological Park and Wildlife Rescue Centre. Conservation International helps to fund the enclosures at the center to rehabilitate the pangolins.
