The truth. Why the elephant attacked the car in Kruger National Park.
The truth. Why the elephant attacked the car in Kruger National Park.
See the reasons why the elephant attacks and roll the car over in Kruger National Park. Thereby paying with its life. Lets take a close look at what happened, and why the elephant reacted the way he did. The elephant is walking peacefully down the road and the idiots are following him at a close distance. That will irritate any animal even a human. Very Irritated the elephant turns around. The idiot decides to brake -- notice the red brake lights. No reverse lights. Now the elephant starts to come closer to them, hoping to scare them off. The brake lights go out. The elephant keeps on coming -- still no reverse lights. The elephant is now very close and the idiot still don't make any effort to get away. The elephant then decides to make way for them by moving of the road. He even turns his back on them -- begging them to be left in peace. The idiots seems to be very brave and stay put. Even when the elephant displays a mock charge. Was this idiot trying to show off to his British girlfriend, by not trying to get away, The elephant again tried to persuade them to leave, by moving to the other side of the road. Still no success and the elephant is now convinced that this is a big threat. He decides to attack the blue irritating threat, and the idiot slams on the brakes. The rest is history. I just wished the video had surfaced earlier which surely would have resulted in the Idiots being put down instead of the poor elephant. A majestic animal trying very hard to be left in peace had to pay the ultimate price. His life.- published: 18 Jan 2014

Touching Lives Rhino Wars SANParks Honorary Rangers
Ruthless poachers have been mercilessly culling our endangered rhinos for the past few years. To combat this slaughter, the South African National Defence Force, the South African Police Service and South African National Parks have joined forces in Operation Rhino to catch and stop the poachers. Flying Rhinos
Please use the "Tip Jar" function tab below and support the WWF Black Rhino Range Expansion Project. All tips we receive from this film will be passed on the WWF Black Rhinos Range Expansion Project to help Rhino Conservation.

Black rhino given new home
The seventh black rhino population established by the WWF Black Rhino Range Expansion Project, was recently released after an epic 1500 kilometre trip across the country. 19 of the critically endangered animals were moved from the Eastern Cape to a new location in Limpopo province.
“This was possible because of the far-sightedness of the Eastern Cape Provincial government who were prepared to become partners in the project for the sake of black rhino conservation in South Africa,” said WWF’s project leader Dr Jacques Flamand. “The operation was difficult due to the number of animals and the long distances involved. But wildlife veterinarians, conservation managers and capture teams from WWF, Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency, SANParks and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife worked cooperatively to ensure the success of the translocation. We all learned from one another and were united in a common cause.”
“We are a young organisation and this is a great opportunity to be giving something back to the national conservation effort,” said Dave Balfour, conservation director of the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency. “We are excited about getting ourselves integrated into national conservation. A critical element of future conservation success will be the ability of agencies with a common interest to work together. This was a great example of that."
A relatively new capture technique was used to airlift some of the rhinos out of difficult or inaccessible areas by helicopter. This entails suspending the sleeping rhino by the ankles for a short trip through the air to awaiting vehicles. “Previously rhinos were either transported by lorry over very difficult tracks, or airlifted in a net. This new procedure is gentler on the darted rhino because it shortens the time it has to be kept asleep with drugs, the respiration is not as compromised as it can be in a net and it avoids the need for travel in a crate over terrible tracks,” explains Dr Flamand. “Another advantage is that rhinos can be more easily removed from dangerous situations, for example if they have fallen asleep in a donga or other difficult terrain after being darted. The helicopter translocations usually take less than ten minutes, and the animals suffer no ill effect. All of the veterinarians working on the translocation agreed that this was now the method of choice for the well-being of the animals.”
Security of rhinos is a major concern given the current poaching onslaught. Project partners receiving rhinos on their land are only chosen if their security systems are of a high standard. “Translocating rhinos always involves risk, but we cannot keep all our eggs in one basket. It is essential to manage black rhino populations for maximum growth as it is still a critically endangered species and this is what the project does by creating large new populations which we hope will breed quickly,” concludes Dr Flamand.
The WWF Black Rhino Range Expansion Project aims to increase the range and numbers of black rhino in South Africa and has created seven significant black rhino populations in eight years. Close to 120 black rhino have been translocated to date.

Kgalagadi Lion Hunt
We watched a pride of lions having a drink at Leeudril one morning. When they were finished they slowly moved up a hill to sit in the shade of a Camelthorn. All the cars moved off leaving just ourselves and one other vehicle, I think they were also having breakfast. Ordinarily we would have also left, you only have a few hours of good light in the morning and you don't want to waste it on a Lion sitting under a tree.
I did not expect what happened next, a lone wildebeest wanders in for a drink!

Rescue of a snared African Wild Dog in Kruger National Park
3-min clip of the rescue of a snared African Wild Dog (Lycaon pictus) in the south of the Kruger National Park.
The Endangered Wildlife Trust (The EWT - ewt.org.za) is in the middle of a five-year monitoring project on the Kruger Wild Dogs, which are believed to only number around 130… so every dog lost speeds up their decline rapidly… hence the urgency in this video to find the snared dog by Grant Beverley, The EWT's field researcher on the KNP Wild Dog project and SANParks vet Dr. Peter Buss.

The sound of African wild dog puppies suckling in the safety of their den. This densite is in a remote area of the Kruger National Park, South Africa. The dogs are wild and researchers and film crews have not interfered with the natural behavior of the animals.

SANParks Bavaria "ADOPT SO OUR RHINO DON'T DIE" Launch
Adopt So Our Rhino Don't Die A ray of hope has been cast on the crusade to save the rhino in the form of a historical joint collaboration between South African National Parks (SANParks), Bavaria 0.0% and South Africa's Big 5 Retailers -- Woolworths, Spar, Massmart, Pick 'n Pay and divisions of the Shoprite Checkers Group. Amidst the growing concerns surrounding fundraising schemes exploiting the current heightened rhino awareness, the 'Adopt So Our Rhino Don't Die' historical campaign was launched on 25 October 2013 and is the first to bear the official SANParks Fundraising Seal, which ensures peace-of-mind that all funding will go directly into rhino anti-poaching activities.- published: 08 Nov 2013

Alyssa Carter SANParks Rhino Champion
Seven year old Alyssa Carter is this year's winner of the SANParks Kudu award's Corporate Contribution to Conservation Award (Individual), and has also been named as a SANParks Rhino Champion by the SANParks Honorary Rangers. Alyssa started making and selling chocolates to help raise money in their fight to save the rhino -- to help buy a trained sniffer dog for the Kruger National Park, as well as the necessary supplies the dog will need. Her chocolates, selling for R10 each, have a hand drawn picture of a rhino created by seven year old, Alyssa Carter. All the funds raised will go to the SANParks Honorary Rangers. Her first specific project is aimed at sponsoring a sniffer dog for Kruger National Park. Thereafter she will continue to raise valuable funds for further projects. The SANParks Honorary Rangers are the South African National Parks preferred channel for counter poaching support in our National Parks. They work directly with the counter poaching teams in the parks to provide crucial training and equipment. To help Alyssa in her cause, visit -- www.sanparksvolunteers.org- published: 27 Nov 2013
