Howrah Mumbai Duronto Express: Major Station Skips and High Speed Action
A full journey compilation on the 12262 Howrah Mumbai Duronto Express, a revolutionary train which reduced the rail travel time between Kolkata and Mumbai to 26 hours, beating the existing fastest rail connection in this route, the legendary Gitanjali Express, by a whopping six hours. The Howrah Mumbai Duronto, a sixteen coach fully air-conditioned rake, operated from its very onset with posh LHB coaches, covers the 1,968 kilometres between the eastern and western coasts of India at an average speed of 75 kmph, with a maximum permissible speed of 110 kmph and five technical halts at Tatanagar (Jharkhand), Bilaspur (Chhatisgarh), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Bhusaval (Maharashtra), and Igatpuri (Maharashtra). This compilation focuses on the major station skipped by the Howrah Mumbai Duronto Express. Some of the prominent stations this train blatantly ignores are Kharagpur, Chakradharpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Durg (possibly the biggest of them all), Gondia, Wardha, Badnera, Manmad, Nasik and Kalyan. This video captures most of the major daylight skips (unfortunately missed Raigarh and Champa) and a few of the night/early morning skips like Gondia, Badnera and Manmad. While some of the major stations like Kharagpur, Durg, Gondia, Kalyan and Jharsuguda are negotiated at a sedate pace courtesy the large number of crossovers, the Duronto powered by a Howrah WAP4 simply blazes through the slightly smaller stations such as Chakradhapur, Ghatshila, Manmad, Devlali and Bhilai Nagar.- published: 07 Dec 2013
