Goals from Stevan Jovetic and Samir Nasri ensured Manchester City saw off Chelsea and maintained Manuel Pellegrini's four-fronted trophy charge. A calm first-half finish by Jovetic and a beautifully worked team move that left Nasri with a tap-in in the second were enough to secure a place in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final draw. Brighton & Hove Albion and Hull City will have to meet again next Monday after a late goal from Yannick Sagbo earned a replay for the Tigers. Manchester City vs Watford 4-2, FA Cup Fourth Round 2013-14 highlights
Sergio Aguero was the hero for Manchester City as his second-half hat-trick helped Manuel Pellegrini's men avoid an FA Cup upset against Watford. The Championship side had deservedly taken a two-goal lead into the break through Fernando Forestieri and Troy Deeney. But City came out all guns blazing in the second half to earn what at one stage appeared an unlikely victory -- with Aguero the catalyst for the comeback. The Argentinian volleyed home the first from close range, before levelling matters on 78 with a sweetly-struck left-foot effort from the edge of the area. With just three minutes remaining, Watford goalkeeper Jonathan Bond spilled Aleksandar Kolarov's low shot from range and Aguero completed the comeback, and his treble, in added time. Watford deserve a great deal of credit for their performance, particularly in the first half, but an Aguero-inspired City move into Round Five and are still in the hunt in four separate competitions. The Hornets started the tie brightly, as Deeney and Cristian Battocchio both fired efforts just over the top of Costel Pantilimon's bar in the opening four minutes. It took City a while to get going and their first sight at goal came from a Jesus Navas corner. The ball found its way to the back post but Joleon Lescott could only blaze over from just a few yards out. However, this chance failed to lift a sluggish City from their slumber and it was no surprise when Watford took the lead on 21 minutes. Gabriele Angella found Deeney from the right and a weighted flick from the skipper played in Forestieri, who was bursting through. The Italian took the ball in his stride and coolly beat Pantilimon with a low shot into the far corner. And things got even better for the visitors just before the 30-minute mark as Deeney deservedly doubled their advantage. A poor pass from Martin Demichelis was pounced upon by Sean Murray, who linked up with Ikechi Anya to set up a counter-attack. Anya fed Deeney and the big No9 did the rest, calmly slipping the ball underneath Pantilimon at the near post to send the travelling fans into dreamland. Seeing the need to shore up his backline, Manuel Pellegrini made two changes at the break. Pablo Zabaleta replaced Micah Richards at right-back while club captain Vincent Kompany came on for Jack Rodwell, with Demichelis moving into midfield. The hosts improved in the second half and took the game to Watford straight from the restart. Edin Dzeko found himself with a yard of space inside the box but got the ball stuck under his feet and failed to trouble Bond. The tide was turning, though, and City gradually increased the pressure on their Championship opponents - substitute Stevan Jovetic, on for Marcos Lopes, couldn't quite connect with Zabaleta's cross as Pellegrini's men sought a route back into the contest. The pressure eventually told, though, as Aguero smashed home Kolarov's ball from the left on 59 minutes. This goal gave City the impetus and they set about finding an equaliser, with Dzeko again unable to find a way past Bond with a low shot. Watford were required to defend stoutly for the remainder of the game, with Deeney their sole outlet upfront. But the free-scoring Premier League side levelled matters with just 12 minutes remaining as Aguero curled home a wonderful left-foot effort from the edge of the box. With a replay looking likely, Kolarov tried his luck from distance with just three minutes left on the clock and the ball squirmed through Bond's fingers and crept over the line to edge City ahead late on. And Aguero completed the comeback two minutes into added time, tapping home a deep cross at the back post.- published: 26 Jan 2014

Arsenal vs Coventry City 4-0, FA Cup Fourth Round Proper 2013-14 highlights
Lukas Podolski's first-half double ensured Arsenal were the first side to make it into The FA Cup Fifth Round this season as the Premier League leaders overpowered Coventry City. Although Coventry had a handful of chances, with Leon Clarke a threat throughout, Arsenal rarely had to extend themselves and made the game safe with late goals from the substitutes Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla. Coventry and their 5,100 travelling fans had bad memories of their last visit to the Emirates Stadium, going down 6-1 in the League Cup last season, but Arsene Wenger paid Steven Pressley's side a compliment by fielding a near full-strength side. England internationals Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were given an opportunity to boss midfield, and Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson were expected to drive forward from full-back. Arsenal permitted Coventry several early spells of possession, but there was always a feeling that the hosts were toying with the 1987 FA Cup-winners. And they punished some impatient Coventry build-up play when Oxlade-Chamberlain intercepted a pass intended for Franck Moussa and laid off for Mesut Ozil. The Germany international skipped clear of one challenge and picked out his countryman Podolski, who drove towards the visitors' box at speed. Joe Murphy sped off his line to close on Podolski but the forward held his nerve and fired into the empty net. Coventry came close to an immediate answer, however, when the ever-industrious Carl Baker burst from midfield and was allowed to canter through unattended before checking on to his left foot and shooting powerfully from 25 yards. Lukasz Fabianski had to be at his best to tip over. Podolski doubled his tally on 26 minutes, nodding unmarked in at the far post, after Per Mertesacker had flicked on Ozil's corner. Perhaps trailing 2-0 at half-time against the Premier League leaders liberated Coventry, because they emerged in a bullish mood. Clarke sprung clear of the offside trap but fired straight at the legs of Fabianski. Then the powerhouse striker picked up a pass from Moussa, but his chip-drive flew off target. Nicklas Bendtner came close to making it 3-0 for the hosts only to skew wide from 10 yards after good approach work from Jack Wilshere, but within seconds Coventry were at it again. Billy Daniels swiveled clear on the edge of the Arsenal area only to fire over Fabianski's cross. But the visitors' forward momentum soon petered out, and the Arsenal fans were treated to a first glimpse of the 16-year-old midfielder Gedion Zelalem. Tipped for great things, the Berlin-born Germany youth international became the first Arsenal player to born after Arsene Wenger took over at the north London club. Giroud ended Arsenal's 57-minute goalless spell by steering home an excellent left-wing cutback, and then another replacement, Cazorla, made it 4-0, smashing high into the roof of Murphy's net with one minute remaining. Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Fabianski; Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain (Zelalem, 71); Gnabry, Ozil, Podolski (Giroud, 79); Bendtner (Cazorla, 71).
