some say this whole Obama movement is "cult like"...

if it comes across cult like...
then...
the cult is called America...
the Obama movement is connecting America.
and it has made "US" realize our importance...
the youth is excited and activated...
adults are passionate and motivated...
the elderly are proud to know the country they built is in safe hands...
we are one...
for too long politics has been corrupt...
separate from the American people...
with agendas that go against what the American people "need"...
education...
health...
safety...
jobs
etc...
politicians have spoken a different language...
making it so the youth and poor people feel as if voting was only for the wealthy and old people...
making "US" feel as if "we" had no voice...
making "US" feel powerless...
making it feel like if "we" did vote it wouldn't change anything...
but wait...
that did happen...
some of us voted, and it didn't change anything...
we were in the dark...
we had no voice...
we were powerless...
because America was not a united America...
and "they" spoke a different language...
and they had an agenda different from our well being...
correct me if I'm wrong... or speak up if I'm missing something...
we want education, health, safety, and good jobs...right???...
oh yeah...
and "a healthy planet to live on"...
but here we are...
in a war... poor education... poor health programs... the dollar is down... the planet, polluted...
the rich, richer... and the poor, struggling...
with sky high gas prices to top it all off...
and now even the rich aren't really rich internationally because our dollar is has fallen so far down...
in our slumber... a very small few got really rich...
because when you're sleeping...
"it's hard to change agendas"...
we know what happened in 2000 and 2004...
but in 2008...
it's different...
we are awake...
and there is a movement...
and "it's hard to change a movement"...

In this video, photographer Catherine Rüttimann explains how she related the 2008 United States presidential election revealing the behind-the-scene of this media frenzy. She also speaks about her influences and what the reGeneration2 project has brought to her career.
reGeneration2: tomorrow’s photographers today exhibition and accompanying publication, is presented by Aperture Foundation from January 20 through March 17, 2011, in collaboration with the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, Switzerland, and with the support of Pro Helvetia and the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York.
Following the worldwide critical acclaim of the book and exhibition reGeneration: 50 Photographers of Tomorrow in 2005, a breakthrough publication for artists such as Pieter Hugo or Nathalie Czech, Aperture Foundation and Musée de l’Élysée in Lausanne, Switzerland, have collaborated on a new edition. people say Obama's words are just words... but... when was the last time "words" weren't important...???... when was the last time a great leader didn't use words to lead...??... when was the last time a person didn't use words to describe how they felt...?... when was the last time "words" weren't empowering...?... and we can all recall the last time "words" were used to divide us and install fear... Bush used words to fear us into voting for him the second time around... terror this... terror that... nuclear here... weapons of mass destruction there... and those words effected a lot of people's choices... "enough is enough"... let's rebuild... let's change ourselves... let's allow positivity to guide us... let's take action.... let's activate our passion... we are Americans.... and this is the first time in forever that someone running for president represents "US"... some say this is all excitement... I call it "proud to be an American"... some say this whole Obama movement is "cult like"... well... if it comes across cult like... then... the cult is called America... the Obama movement is connecting America. and it has made "US" realize our importance... the youth is excited and activated... adults are passionate and motivated... the elderly are proud to know the country they built is in safe hands... we are one... for too long politics has been corrupt... separate from the American people... with agendas that go against what the American people "need"... education... health... safety... jobs etc... politicians have spoken a different language... making it so the youth and poor people feel as if voting was only for the wealthy and old people... making "US" feel as if "we" had no voice... making "US" feel powerless... making it feel like if "we" did vote it wouldn't change anything... but wait... that did happen... some of us voted, and it didn't change anything... we were in the dark... we had no voice... we were powerless... because America was not a united America... and "they" spoke a different language... and they had an agenda different from our well being... correct me if I'm wrong... or speak up if I'm missing something... we want education, health, safety, and good jobs...right???... oh yeah... and "a healthy planet to live on"... but here we are... in a war... poor education... poor health programs... the dollar is down... the planet, polluted... the rich, richer... and the poor, struggling... with sky high gas prices to top it all off... and now even the rich aren't really rich internationally because our dollar is has fallen so far down... in our slumber... a very small few got really rich... because when you're sleeping... "it's hard to change agendas"... we know what happened in 2000 and 2004... but in 2008... it's different... we are awake... and there is a movement... and "it's hard to change a movement"... last time "we" didn't have a movement... America wasn't united... and now "United and "Standing"...for something... we know the power of "US"... and we have a person who represents the "U.S."... "US"... The United States presidential election of 2008 was the 56th quadrennial presidential election. It was held on November 4, 2008. Democrat Barack Obama, then the junior United States Senator from Illinois, defeated Republican John McCain, the senior U.S. Senator from Arizona. Obama received 365 electoral votes, and McCain 173. The popular vote was 69,456,897 to 59,934,814, respectively. Obama received the most votes for a presidential candidate in American history.
During the presidential election campaign, the major-party candidates ran on a platform of change and reform in Washington. Domestic policy and the economy eventually emerged as the main themes in the last few months of the election campaign after the onset of an economic crisis.
Nine states voted for a different party than they did in the 2004 election. Each had voted for the Republican nominee in 2004 and contributed to Obama's sizable Electoral College victory. The selected electors from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia voted for President and Vice President of the United States on December 15, 2008. Those votes were tallied before a joint session of Congress on January 8, 2009.

The U.S. economy is the world's largest national economy, with an estimated 2011 GDP of $15.1 trillion (22% of nominal global GDP and over 19% of global GDP at purchasing-power parity). Per capita income is the world's sixth-highest.

The election of the President and Vice President of the United States is an indirect vote in which citizens cast ballots for a slate of members of the U.S. Electoral College; these electors in turn directly elect the President and Vice President. Presidential elections occur quadrennially (the count beginning with the year 1792) on Election Day, the Tuesday between November 2 and 8, coinciding with the general elections of various other federal, states and local races. The most recent was the 2008 presidential election, held on November 4 that year. The next will be the 2012 election, to be held on November 6.
The process is regulated by a combination of both federal and state laws. Each state is allocated a number of Electoral College electors equal to the number of its Senators and Representatives in the U.S. Congress. Additionally, Washington, D.C. is given a number of electors equal to the number held by the smallest state.U.S. territories are not represented in the Electoral College.

Barack Hussein Obama II (
i/bəˈrɑːk huːˈseɪn oʊˈbɑːmə/; born August 4, 1961) is the 44th and current President of the United States. He is the first African American to hold the office. In January 2005, Obama was sworn in as a U.S. Senator in the state of Illinois. He would hold this office until November 2008, when he resigned following his victory in the 2008 presidential election.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the president of the Harvard Law Review. He was a community organizer in Chicago before earning his law degree. He worked as a civil rights attorney in Chicago and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. He served three terms representing the 13th District in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004.
Following an unsuccessful bid against the Democratic incumbent for a seat in the United States House of Representatives in 2000, Obama ran for the United States Senate in 2004. Several events brought him to national attention during the campaign, including his victory in the March 2004 Illinois Democratic primary for the Senate election and his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He won election to the U.S. Senate in Illinois in November 2004. His presidential campaign began in February 2007, and after a close campaign in the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries against Hillary Rodham Clinton, he won his party's nomination. In the 2008 presidential election, he defeated Republican nominee John McCain, and was inaugurated as president on January 20, 2009. Nine months later, Obama was named the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In April 2011, he announced that he would be running for re-election in 2012.
