The Supreme Court has always barred any type of cameras, including news media, from recording proceedings. The video shows a protester who disrupted an oral argument on Wednesday. The shaky, low-quality video, just over two minutes long, shows a brief disruption that occurred in the courtroom during an oral argument in a patent case. It also appears to show video taken at a separate oral argument, held last October 8 in a campaign-finance dispute, McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission, that has yet to be decided. On Wednesday, a man stood up in the courtroom and spoke out during a patent case, objecting to the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling from 2010 that cleared the way for increased independent corporate and union spending during federal elections. The court identified him as Noah Newkirk of Los Angeles, California. He can be partially seen and heard in the video footage, which appears to have been shot by someone he was with. The video ends with the logo for a group called 99Rise, which says on its website (www.99rise.org) that its aim is to "get big money out of American politics."* Why is this video so important? The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read more here from LAWRENCE HURLEY AND JOAN BISKUPIC / Reuters: http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/02/27/us-usa-court-video-idUSBREA1Q2AD20140227- published: 28 Feb 2014

"Rebel" MPs should stay in the House - Supreme Court
Teargas rocked parts of the city Thursday after the Supreme Court temporarily blocked Speaker Rebecca Kadaga from evicting the four expelled NRM MPs from Parliament. This just a few hours after the Electoral Commission set April 17 as the date for by-elections in their constituencies. Two of the expelled NRM MPs now have a moment's reprieve from the Constitutional Court order that also asked the Electoral Commission to conduct fresh by elections and the Speaker to stop with immediate effect the payment of their emoluments. On Friday MPs Theodore Ssekikubo, Kampala Central's Mohammed Nsereko and Butambala's Muwanga Kivumbi face charges of unlawful assembly to disobeying lawful orders. Its Supreme Court vs Subrata Roy now
The Supreme Court on Friday said the Sahara Group's proposal to pay the entire amount to SEBI in cash instalments of Rs.2,500 crore each at regular intervals of three months was not acceptable. The proposal is not proper and you must come out with honourable proposal," the SC said. Sahara boss Subrata Roy will remain in judicial custody. SC says it will hear Sahara's plea on police custody on Tuesday. The apex court, however, allowed Sahara's financial consultants and lawyers to meet Roy in jail between 10 AM and 12 noon everyday. The regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) opposed Sahara's proposal, saying the group intended to pay Rs. 17,000 cr but the total due amount is Rs. 37,000 cr. The apex court had earlier on Friday said "the first instalment looks attractive". U.S. Supreme Court - Edward Lawson won it!
EDWARD LAWSON
Civil Rights Activist - ProPer Inc.
On his own he took a civil rights case to the
Supreme Court of the United States - and won.
In California cops stopped citizens without
probable cause or a reasonable suspicion
and asked for I.D.
Typically black, brown and young people.
Edward Lawson as a pedestrian
was stopped by cops and asked for I.D.
more than 15 times in an 18 month period
in San Diego County.
He kept written notes about what happened
and the cops that stopped him
and brought one combined legal action
first in California Courts and then in U.S. Federal Court.
The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
ruled in his favor. The San Diego Sheriff's Department
then appealed the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court
In Kolender v. Lawson (461 U.S. 352, 1983)
the United States Supreme Court ruled that a statute (in California or in any state) authorizing a police officer to arrest a citizen merely for refusing to present identification was unconstitutionally vague.
His case has been cited in 1000s of later cases.
Alas, in 2008 stop and I.D. laws in some states are back on the books.

BCCI's Supreme Court defence accessed
Chennai Super Kings team official and son-in-law of BCCI chief N Srinivasan, Gurunath Meiyappan, reportedly admitted to 'friendly betting' in the Indian Premier League through Vindoo Dara Singh. He was indicted in an inquiry report submitted by a Supreme Court-appointed probe committee. The involvement of Gurunath Meiyappan, who is married to the daughter of BCCI president N. Srinivasan, was proved in the illegal betting case, the committee said in a report, a copy of which was seen by Reuters. Meiyappan was arrested in late May by Mumbai Police probing illegal betting on the cash-rich Twenty20 league but was released on bail within two weeks. Legal sports betting in India is confined to horse racing. Local media claimed Meiyappan was chief executive of the Chennai Super Kings but India Cements, the company that owns the franchise, said he was merely a member of team management. The scandal surfaced when former test bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth and two other local cricketers were arrested on suspicion of taking money to concede a fixed number of runs. Sreesanth, who denied any wrongdoing, was subsequently banned for life by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
