Operation Allied Protector (documentary) - NATO in Gulf of Aden mission
Operation Allied Protector (documentary) - NATO in Gulf of Aden mission
Operation Allied Protector, conducted between 24 March and August 2009, helped to deter, defend against and disrupt pirate activities in the Gulf of Aden and off the Horn of Africa. From 24 March until 29 June 2009, the operation was conducted by ships assigned to Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1). SNMG1 was usually employed in the Eastern Atlantic area, but it could be deployed, as in the case of Operation Allied Protector, anywhere NATO required. The first phase of Operation Allied Protector was undertaken as the force left for NATO's first ever deployment to South East Asia. SNMG1 made a short visit to Karachi, Pakistan on 26-27 April 2009. However, with the increase in pirate attacks, on 24 April 2009, NATO had already decided to cancel the other 2 port visits planned to Singapore and Australia. As such, the second phase of the operation, which was meant to take place as SNMG1 made its return journey towards European waters end June 2009, was brought forward to 1 May 2009. From 29 June 2009 through August 2009, Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2) took over responsibility from SNMG1. SNMG2 had previously been involved in NATO first counter-piracy operation, Operation Allied Provider. It was subsequently determined that a rotational presence was required to combat piracy in the Gulf of Aden and off the Horn of Africa and Operation Allied Protector was subsequently succeeded by Operation Ocean Shield in November 2009.- published: 30 Oct 2013

NATO Exercise Steadfast Jazz transitions to multinational operations
NATO and partner nations conduct Exercise Steadfast Jazz 2013 in Latvia and in Poland from 2 - 9 November 2013. The event mark the culmination of a series of dynamic and demanding exercises designed to train and test troops and commanders from the NATO Response Force (NRF). The Steadfast series of exercises are part of NATO's efforts to maintain connected and interoperable forces at a high-level of readiness. The goal is to make sure that NRF troops are ready to deal with any situation in any environment. The event involves about 6,000 personnel from many Allied and partner nations. Around 3,000 headquarters personnel from Joint Force Command Brunssum and other headquarters is involved in a command & control exercise on the Adazi Base near Riga, Latvia and at several other headquarters locations across the Alliance. In addition, multinational troops participate in a live-fire exercise at Poland's Drawsko Pomorskie Training Area. Air, land, maritime, and special forces also participate from several locations. NATO terrorists - Operation Gladio: 1948-1990 - State Sponsored Terrorism in Europe - [BBC Timewatch, 1992]
Operation Gladio [BBC Timewatch, 1992] - State Sponsored Terrorism in Europe
Operation Gladio is undisputed historical fact. Gladio was part of a post-World War II program set up by the CIA and NATO supposedly to thwart future Soviet/communist invasions or influence in Italy and Western Europe. In fact, it became a state-sponsored right-wing terrorist network, involved in false flag operations and the subversion of democracy.
The existence of Gladio was confirmed and admitted by the Italian government in 1990, after a judge, Felice Casson, discovered the network in the course of his investigations into right-wing terrorism. Italian prime minister Giulio Andreotti admitted Gladio's existence but tried to minimize its significance.
The main function of the Gladio-style groups, in the absence of Soviet invasion, seems to have been to discredit left-wing groups and politicians through the use of "the strategy of tension," including false-flag terrorism. The strategy of tension is a concept for control and manipulation of public opinion through the use of fear, propaganda, agents provacateurs, terrorism, etc. The aim was to instill fear into the populace while framing communist and left-wing political opponents for terrorist atrocities.
NATO terrorists - Operation Gladio: 1948-1990
BBC Timewatch 1992 - State Sponsored Terrorism in Europe.
Shocking documentary about the network of secret agents from France, USA, Italy and Belgium that carried out terror attacks on the European public and blamed the leftwing and communists.
The Gladio-centered US foreign policy, which was so successfully played-out in Europe, effectively countered the Soviet expansion at a high cost to European democracy. The application of that policy to Islamic countries facing a Soviet threat, such as Afghanistan, helped to roll-back the Soviets, but at a terrible cost. The training of Islamic paramilitary forces to carry-out terror attacks for political reasons, evolved into the unfolding nightmare known as the war on terror.
In Afghanistan, the CIA armed, trained and supported Islamic "Gladios" who carried-out Brzezenski's plans for staging terrorist attacks upon popular local Afghan tribal leaders, as a means to instigate the widespread tribal warfare which eventually lured the Soviets to intervene in December 1979. (July 3, 1979, President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul.) Reagan whole-heartedly supported the new terror politics as a weapon for attacking the Soviet empire, even expanding the Islamic militant form of Gladio to all member states of the Soviet Union and their allies, when he signed National Security Decision Directive 166 in March 1985. In Central America, his Gladio-like duplication trained paramilitary armies and death squads. This policy became known as the "El Salvador option," when George W. Bush embraced it in Iraq, making it the centerpiece of his strategy for the "war on terrorism."
