KMOX (1120 AM, "NewsRadio 1120") is a radio station broadcasting from St. Louis, Missouri. It is a 50,000-watt clear channel radio station, which permits its nighttime signal to be heard in most of the continental U.S. KMOX operates as "NewsRadio 1120" and refers to itself as "The Voice of St. Louis."

KMOX is affiliated with the CBS Radio Network and licensed to a CBS Corporation subsidiary, CBS Radio. KMOX's transmitter is located in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. The KMOX AM Studio is located at One Memorial Drive directly across the street from the Gateway Arch.

For many years, KMOX broadcast using C-QUAM AM stereo, but stereo transmissions ended in the spring of 2000. The station now broadcasts an HD Radio signal.^{[citation needed]}

KMOX, along with WSDZ are responsible for the activation of the Greater St. Louis Emergency Alert System for hazardous weather, disaster declarations, etc.^{[citation needed]}

KMOX signed on in 1925 owned by a group of businessmen incorporated as The Voice of St. Louis Inc. According to the station's official website, the "KMOX" call letters were assigned by the Federal Radio Commission. The station's owners had hoped to be assigned "K-V-S-L", for "Voice of St. Louis" They were assigned KMOX, but in a last-ditch effort they applied for "K-M-O", but the letters had been in use by KMO in Tacoma since 1922. KMOX signed on December 24, 1925. (The "X" was because the date was Christmas Eve, or "X"mas eve. Although a local legend states the call letters mean Kirkwood, Missouri On Xmas, the K was the assigned first call letter of all new radio stations west of the Mississippi River.^{[citation needed]}

Thomas Michael Shannon (born July 15, 1939) is an American-born former Major League Baseball player and current radio sportscaster.

Shannon is a radio broadcaster for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was raised in St. Louis, Missouri and played with the Cardinals during some of the team's most successful years. Additionally, he is the proprietor of Mike Shannon's Steaks and Seafood in downtown St. Louis.

Shannon was born and raised in south St. Louis. He attended grade school at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic School, and graduated high school from Christian Brothers College High School in 1957. He attended the University of Missouri before leaving to begin his professional baseball career. Shannon has commented that if football players were paid better during his era, he probably would have stayed at Missouri, and sought a professional football career. He believed himself a better football player, and his former coach, Frank Broyles, commented that had he stayed in school, Shannon might have won the Heisman Trophy.

Jimmy Ray Dean (August 10, 1928 – June 13, 2010) was an American country music singer, television host, actor and businessman. Although he may be best known today as the creator of the Jimmy Dean sausage brand, he became a national television personality starting in 1957, rising to fame for his 1961 country crossover hit "Big Bad John" and his television series, The Jimmy Dean Show, which also gave puppeteer Jim Henson his first national media exposure. His acting career included a supporting role as Willard Whyte in the 1971 James Bond movie, Diamonds Are Forever. He lived near Richmond, Virginia, and was nominated for the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010, although he was formally inducted posthumously.

Dean was born in Olton, Texas, in 1928 the son of George Otto Dean, and his second wife Ruth (née Taylor) Dean. He attributed his interest in music to the Seth Ward Baptist Church. He dropped out of high school and became a professional entertainer after a stint in the U.S. Air Force in the late 1940s. Dean was 22 and just starting in show business when he married his first wife Mary Sue in 1950.

Jack Carney (22 January 1909 – October 1981) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1930s.

Carney was a dashing wingman and started his league career in 1930 with Geelong. Standing at just 160 cm he is the smallest player ever to represent Geelong and is said to have worn size three shoes. He was a member of Geelong's 1931 premiership side and played 79 games with the club before crossing to Carlton in 1936. He was a premiership player with Carlton in 1938 and a regular Victorian interstate representative. After ending his playing career in 1941 he became coach of the Carlton reserves team.

Robert T. Hamilton (January 10, 1916 – December 6, 1990) was an American professional golfer. He was born and died in Evansville, Indiana.

Hamilton won the 1944 PGA Championship at Manito Golf and Country Club in Spokane, Washington defeating Byron Nelson 1 up in match play. He was a three-time winner of the Indiana Open, winning in 1938, 1942 and 1966. He won five times on the PGA Tour, including won the 1948 New Orleans Open, beating Roberto DeVicenzo by one stroke. Hamilton was also a member of the 1949 Ryder Cup team.

Hamilton also served as the golf pro at Ft. Lewis, Washington during the latter stages of World War II; he was also a member o f the Warriors, Ft. Lewis' inter-base (intramural) team. Individually, he placed 3rd in the Pacific Northwest Servicemen's Championship (Seattle) and 3rd in the Tacoma Open, a PGA Tour event.

Hamilton finished second to Sam Snead in the 1967 Senior PGA Championship at PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Hamilton set the overall record for youngest golfer to shoot his age when he shot a 59 at Hamilton Golf Club in Evansville, Ind., in 1975.
