Billie Holiday - The Legacy: 1933-1958 Disc 1 [Full Length Album]
Billie Holiday (born Eleanora Harris, April 7, 1915 -- July 17, 1959) was an American jazz singer and songwriter. Nicknamed "Lady Day" by her friend and musical partner Lester Young, Holiday had a seminal influence on jazz and pop singing. Her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, pioneered a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo. All of me Why not take all of me Can't you see I'm no good without you Take my lips I want to lose them Take my arms I'll never use them Your goodbye left me with eyes that cry How can I go on dear, without you You took the part that once was my heart So why not take all of me- published: 28 Feb 2014

♥Billie Holiday(1915-1959): Lady In Satin, Complete Album, with Ray Ellis(1923-2008)and his Orchestra, from February, 1958. Jazz/Blues Masterpiece. This was Billie's final album released while she was alive, Billie's final studio recordings were released after her death in July, 1959 at the age of 44. This was said to be Billie's personal favorite album. I love Billie Holiday so much, I could listen to her sing 24/7, and this album is one of the greatest ever recorded. Billie was very unique. You can't listen to her, without knowing it's Billie Holiday singing. She was one of a kind. How lucky we all are, that she left us with such wonderful music. ♥ Song Tracks: 1. I'm A Fool To Want You (edited master cs 8048) 2. For Heaven's Sake 3. You Don't Know What Love Is 4. I Get Along Without You Very Well 5. For All We Know 6. Violets For Your Furs 7. Billy Holiday, Lady Sings the Blues
Billy Holiday, Lady Sings the Blues
Billy Holiday, Lady Sings the Blues Billie Holiday used drugs all her life. I do not believe she would be the same musician without it, just the same as if she were born a rich white kid! Her music comes from her experiences and her state of mind, which in most cases (as she seems to show in "Lady Sings the Blues") to be filled with pain and experience...she seems road weary if you will. Being a professional musician back then was a rough, poor, drugged experience. The music of the era seems to reflect this. As far as her musical technical ability, so what! She's great! She has more style in her fingernail than many other musicians that have the ability. I love her music...she's going to last forever :)- published: 28 Feb 2014

Billie Holiday God Bless The Child
Them that's got shall get Them that's not shall lose So the Bible said and it still is news Mama may have, Papa may have But God bless the child that's got his own That's got his own Yes, the strong gets more While the weak ones fade Empty pockets don't ever make the grade Mama may have, Papa may have But God bless the child that's got his own That's got his own Money, you've got lots of friends Crowding round the door When you're gone, spending ends They don't come no more Rich relations give Crust of bread and such You can help yourself But don't take too much Mama may have, Papa may have But God bless the child that's got his own That's got his own Mama may have, Papa may have But God bless the child that's got his own That's got his own He just worry 'bout nothin' Cause he's got his own- published: 28 Feb 2014

Warpaint "Billie Holiday"
I have always loved this song from when I used to see Warpaint play live at Spaceland and The Echo in LA back in 2009. The song made me think of a ballerina dancing in the desert at dawn.
