The Unfortunate History of the AMC Pacer
The Unfortunate History of the AMC Pacer
Behind all the jokes and insults, the AMC Pacer is actually a car with a great deal of history. It began as radical new design from an underdog company. In an attempt to combat the big, bland, boxy cars from Detroit's "Big Three," little American Motors Corporation decided to build something a little different. Their one-eyed car stylist Dick Teague proposed a small, wide car with big windows and smooth areodynamics. Americans had never seen anything like it. This in-depth documentary tells the true story of the Pacer. Unbeknownst to many, the car persevered through manufacturing setbacks, government regulations, and many other troubles. Featuring a ton of old car advertisements and rare footage of AMC's factory, the film helps paint a picture of the Pacer's world. Director Joe Ligo sits down with AMC stylist Vincent Geraci, author Patrick Foster, and television personalities John Davis and Pat Goss from PBS's MotorWeek.- published: 07 Dec 2013

Yo!! What's up, dudes?!?! This is my recently acquired '83 Kramer Pacer Imperial. I scored it from Marc Davis down at Guitar Center in Atlantic City, NJ. I saw it on the website, called him up and got some info, then pulled the trigger within about an hour. I'm so glad I did, because this is one killer score. I LOVE this guitar. It's the early Pacer neck that is relatively thin and fast; later necks were wider until the new headstock design came out. NOTE: Right before I started this video I popped the D-TUNA back to the "E" position from the "D" position. I thought it was in good tune, but I had to adjust a couple of times during the video. Sorry 'bout that. Also, I figured out how to place pics in the video using Premiere (which is what I use to stitch the video together), so I added a few pics along the way. Premiere is a complex program, so it's going to take a while to figure out all of its features.
