Abid (Arabic: عابد ), also Abed, literally meaning worshipper, adorer, devout may be either a surname or given name.

আবিদ তাঁর তিন বন্ধু মোস্তাকিম, আশিক ও সোহেলকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে কক্সবাজারের কলাতলী পয়েন্টে গোসল করতে নামেন। কিছুক্ষণ পরে তাঁরা গুপ্ত খালে আটকা পড়েন। এরপর ডুবুরি দল আবিদ, মোস্তাকিম ও সোহেলকে উদ্ধার করে কক্সবাজার জেলা হাসপাতালে পাঠায়। ডুবুরি দল আশিককে উদ্ধার করতে পারেনি। সেখানে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক আবিদ, মোস্তাকিমকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন। প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসার পর সোহেল এখন সুস্থ।

Another young man named Ashiq also went missing since the incident at about 4:15pm, reports Prothom Alo.
The other deceased is Abid's friend Mostakim.
Sources said Abid along with his friends Ashiq, Mostakim and Sohail went to Kalatoli point of the beach for bathing.
At one stage, they sank into quicksand.
Divers rescued three and rushed them to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared Abid and Mostakim dead.
The divers were continuing the search for Ashiq.
