i/ˈtʃæd/ (French: Tchad, Arabic: تشاد Tšād), officially known as the Republic of Chad, is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon and Nigeria to the southwest, and Niger to the west. Due to its distance from the sea and its largely desert climate, the country is sometimes referred to as the "Dead Heart of Africa".
Chad is divided into multiple regions: a desert zone in the north, an arid Sahelian belt in the centre and a more fertile Sudanese savanna zone in the south. Lake Chad, after which the country is named, is the largest wetland in Chad and the second largest in Africa. Chad's highest peak is the Emi Koussi in the Sahara, and N'Djamena, (formerly Fort-Lamy), the capital, is the largest city. Chad is home to over 200 different ethnic and linguistic groups. Arabic and French are the official languages. Islam and Christianity are the most widely practiced religions.
Beginning in the 7th millennium BC, human populations moved into the Chadian basin in great numbers. By the end of the 1st millennium BC, a series of states and empires rose and fell in Chad's Sahelian strip, each focused on controlling the trans-Saharan trade routes that passed through the region. France conquered the territory by 1920 and incorporated it as part of French Equatorial Africa.

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known by her stage name Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter and actress. Perry grew up with gospel music, and during her first year of high school she pursued a music career as Katy Hudson, releasing her first studio album called Katy Hudson which failed to chart. Avril Ramona Lavigne (pronunciation: /ˈævrɨl ləˈviːn/; AV-ril lə-VEEN; born 27 September 1984) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. She was born in Belleville, Ontario, but spent most of her youth in the small town of Napanee. Chad Robert Kroeger (born Chad Robert Turton on (1974-11-15)November 15, 1974) is a Canadian songwriter, singer, and guitarist best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Canadian rock band Nickelback. In addition to his work with Nickelback, Kroeger has been involved with a variety of collaborations, appearing as a guest musician in several songs and has contributed in both production and songwriting. He has co-written several songs for other artists and for films.
Kroeger was born in Hanna, Alberta on 15 November 1974 under the name Chad Robert Turton. He learned to play the guitar at age 13, and in the early 1990s was part of a cover band, which also included future Nickelback members Mike Kroeger and Ryan Peake, before it broke up. Soon after the band dissolved, he, Mike Kroeger and Ryan Peake became part of Nickelback, which was formed at that time.
In 2002, Kroeger co-founded 604 Records, and has also produced music for other bands, such as Default, Theory of a Deadman, and Bo Bice.

Chad Mark Reed AM (born 15 March 1982, in Kurri Kurri, Australia) is an Australian motocross and supercross racer. He is a multi-time supercross and motocross champion. He was taught from a young age as being capable of competing at the sports most elite level. He has proven to be the most consistent supercross/motocross racer in the 2000-2009 decade. He has since ascended the international ranks of the sport to become Australia's most successful motocross racer.
After a few years of honing his skills on 80s, Chad's amateur career really started to take off in 1997 when he took the top spot at the Australian Junior Championship aboard a Suzuki Australia-backed RM125. The following year, he was offered a spot on the Factory Suzuki team, where he piloted his RM250 to win several rounds of the Australian Motocross Championship, but was unable to compete in the Supercross Series because he was not yet sixteen years old.
2010 Reed raced the first round of the 2010 Super X series held at Energy Australia Stadium, Newcastle on a Honda sponsored by Vodafone. Reed won the event beating Americans Josh Hansen and Justin Brayton who finished in second and third respectively.
