The International Olympic Committee (IOC) (French: le Comité international olympique) is an international corporation based in Lausanne, Switzerland, created by Pierre de Coubertin on 23 June 1894 with Demetrios Vikelas as its first president. Today its membership consists of the 205 National Olympic Committees (though Kuwait is suspended since 2010).

The IOC organizes the modern Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games, held in Summer and Winter, every four years. The first Summer Olympics organized by the International Olympic Committee were held in Athens, Greece, in 1896; the first Winter Olympics were in Chamonix, France, in 1924. Until 1992, both Summer and Winter Olympics were held in the same year. After that year, however, the IOC shifted the Winter Olympics to the even years between Summer Games, to help space the planning of the two events two years apart from one another, and improve the financial balance of the IOC, which receives greater income on Olympic years. The first Summer Youth Olympics were in Singapore in 2010 and the first Winter Youth Olympics were held in Innsbruck in 2012.

Sue Enquist (born c. 1956) is a former softball player and coach. She played softball at UCLA under Sharron Backus from 1975 to 1978. She helped lead UCLA to its first national softball championship in the 1978 Women's College World Series and became UCLA's first All-American softball player. Her career batting average of .401 was the UCLA team record for 24 years. She also played for the Raybestos Braketts and helped lead the team to Amateur Softball Association national championships in 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1980. After receiving a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 1980, Enquist joined the coaching staff of the UCLA softball team. She was an assistant coach under Sharron Backus from 1980 to 1988. In 1989, she was appointed as the co-head coach with Backus, a position she held for eight years from 1989 to 1996. Following Backus's retirement, Enquist became the sole head coach at UCLA in 1997, a position she held for ten years from 1997 to 2006. Enquist retired from UCLA in 2006. In 18 years as the co-head coach and sole head coach at UCLA, Enquist compiled a record of 887–175–1. Her career winning percentage of .835 is the highest recorded by any of the college softball coaches with 800 career wins. During her years as a player and coach at UCLA, the Bruins softball team won 18 national championships in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1999, 2003 and 2004. Enquist has been honored with inductions into the International Women's Sports Hall of Fame in 2008,National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2006, the UCLA Hall of Fame in 1993, and the Capistrano Unified School District Hall of Fame in 2000.

Dr. Liston (Lin) D. Bochette III, born June 16, 1957, in the state of Florida, is an American athlete and artist, and an Olympian for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Bochette attended the University of Florida on a Track and Field Scholarship offered to him by Olympic Coach Jimmy Carnes and was, later, inducted into the Hall of Fame, as a Distinguished Letterwinner. ; he has also studied at Florida State University, the University of Puerto Rico, and was accepted at Stanford University. He collected a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, from the University of Florida; a Master’s degree in Humanities, from Inter American University; and a Ph.D. in Education from Pacific Western University.

Bochette competed internationally in the decathlon; and was the Champion for Puerto Rico. Beginning in the 1980’s, he participated, in some capacity, in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games—as an advocate in Puerto Rico; as an official in 1988; and as a bobsleigh athlete for Puerto Rico in 1992, 1996, and 2000. In 2002, he was elected as Secretary General of the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes Commission. And, in 1992, he was awarded a Gold Medal for Art, at the Cultural Arts Festival, during the Barcelona Olympic Games.^{[citation needed]}

Xi Jinping (pronounced [ɕǐ tɕînpʰǐŋ] English approx.:SHEE JIN PING; born 1 June 1953) is a high-ranking politician of the People's Republic of China. He currently serves as the top-ranked member of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of China, the country's Vice President, Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission, President of the Central Party School and the 6th ranked member of the CPC Politburo Standing Committee, China's de facto top power organ.

Son of communist veteran Xi Zhongxun, Xi Jinping served mostly in Fujian province in his early career. He was later appointed party chief of the neighboring Zhejiang province, and then was appointed as Shanghai's party chief following the dismissal of Chen Liangyu. Known for his tough stance on corruption and a frank openness about political and market economy reforms, Xi's combination of positions makes him the presumptive heir to current General Secretary and President Hu Jintao and the Paramount leader of the Communist Party of China's fifth generation of leadership.
