This steady Rockers video was shot in Hollywood 1988 with Danny Dean from Anti, Brent Liles of Social Distortion and Agent Orange, Chad Carrier of Big Mess, and Korky Ollerton of the Detonators after Mike ness decided to continue working in Social Distortion full time Brent Mikes x bass player took over as Easters guitar player. They where both really great guys to work with, I hope someday we can work together again, Danny Dean.
Danny Dean (Danny Dean Phillips, Danny Phillips) is an American musician, singer- songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. He is best known as the lead vocalist, principal songwriter, and guitarist of the hardcore punk band Anti and DIY punk label New Underground Records, which Danny Dean co-founded with the late Gary Kail at the height of South Bay California's hardcore punk scene in the late 1970's. He is also a guitarist and bass guitarist for the avant-garde band Mood of Defiance pioneering the 2nd generation of punk. Danny Dean achieved commercial success at the golden age of MTV with a plethora of music videos and nationwide radio rotation to the likes of California's KROQ and 91X, with his post-punk band Easter, notorious for lineup changes that regularly featured Mike Ness early Social Distortion and a late Brent Liles early Social Distortion and post-Easter Agent Orange fame. Another State of Mind is a documentary film made in the summer of 1982 chronicling the adventure of two punk bands, Social Distortion and Youth Brigade, as they embark on their first international tour. Along the way they meet up with another progressive punk band, Minor Threat, whom they hang out with at the Dischord house for about a week near the end of their ill-fated tour.

► PLOT
The bands head north up through San Francisco, Oregon, and Seattle. The film documents Social Distortion and Youth Brigade live shows; it also features Minor Threat at band practice. At one point in the movie, Social Distortion's Mike Ness sits on a porch and writes future underground hit Another State of Mind. The film documents not only the complex and challenging social dynamics of the punk scene, the touring bands and their crew, but also documents the DIY punk touring circuit in its infancy.
A final bus break-down in D.C. causes Social Distortion to split up. O'Brien, Liles and Danell abandon the group to stay with friends of Brinson's, where they voice their exhaustion with the tour and the rest of the group. Out of desperation, the others go to the local Kmart to shop for tarps with the members of Minor Threat.
Mike Ness ends up being stranded when the rest of Social Distortion heads back to OC where they feel they have a better chance of making money rather than staying on the difficult tour. Ness has really no choice but to grab a flight back to LA himself and try to regroup. Youth Brigade rents a truck and drives back to Los Angeles.
Three cast members (Dennis Danell and Brent Liles of Social Distortion and road crew member Louis Dufau) have died since the making of this film.

► PRODUCTION
Filmmakers Peter Stuart and Adam Small came upon a large scale project which immediately captured their imagination: the Better Youth Organization of Los Angeles was planning a North American tour. Eleven assorted punks would be traveling across the country in a broken down school bus. It was a chance to explore and document the punk community more extensively than ever before.
On August 17, 1982, armed with one production assistant, Stuart and Small set off in their rental truck on this journey through the underground. For six weeks and ten thousand miles, they recorded the adventures of the two touring bands – Youth Brigade and Social Distortion. More than just concert footage, this film documents the rich collection of characters in and around the tour, and the hardships and dangers of life on the road. The film was made on the cheap side and the scenes that feature instructions for slam dancing were filmed as filler so that the film would be at a viable length for release and distribution.
The poster was designed by Josh Freeman, now president and creative director of FreeAssociates, the design/advertising agency in Los Angeles.

Manhattan Boy was Filmed in Hollywood 1987, with Danny Dean from ANTI, Chad Carrier Big Mess, Korky Ollerton from the Detonators. Mike Ness of Social Distortion couldn't make it to the shoot, Social Distortion started to play more and more so schedules began to clash so he had to leave EASTER and was replaced on guitar with Social Distortions x bass player Brent Lilies who was at that time playing bass for Agent Orange.

Brent Harrold Liles (September 7, 1963 – January 18, 2007) was the bassist for Social Distortion from 1981–1984 and later was the bassist for Agent Orange from 1988 - 1992. He appeared on Social Distortion's 1983 classic debut Mommy's Little Monster before leaving the band on New Year's Day 1984, with the band's drummer Derek O'Brien. The two would once again be bandmates from 1989 to the early 1990s with Agent Orange. The Palm/Liles/O'Brien lineup of Agent Orange can be heard on the album Real Live Sound. It was Liles who originally came up with the idea of Agent Orange recording their little-known and never released album, Living in Total Darkness. This was a re-recording of the songs on their 1981 album Living in Darkness with some newer material mixed in. This recording was made on Christmas of 1988, which is somewhat interesting due to the fact that Mommy's Little Monster was coincidentally recorded on Christmas Eve of 1982. Liles also briefly played guitar for the band Easter and Chaotic Stature. Brent also played Bass for a band in 1984 to 1986 called The Harlots, who were managed by Monk Rock, Brent's manager from his Social Distortion days. The Harlots put out a 12 E.P. around March 1985 which was entitled Roger Roomper's Really Catchy Tunes.

Another State of Mind is a documentary film made in the summer of 1982 chronicling the adventure of two punk bands, Social Distortion and Youth Brigade, as they embark on their first international tour. A final bus break-down in D.C. causes Social Distortion to split up. O'Brien, Liles and Danell abandon the group to stay with friends of Brinson's, where they voice their exhaustion with the tour and the rest of the group. Out of desperation, the others go to the local Kmart to shop for tarps with the members of Minor Threat.
Mike Ness ends up being stranded when the rest of Social Distortion heads back to OC where they feel they have a better chance of making money rather than staying on the difficult tour. Ness has really no choice but to grab a flight back to LA himself and try to regroup. Youth Brigade rents a truck and drives back to Los Angeles.
Three cast members (Dennis Danell and Brent Liles of Social Distortion and road crew member Louis Dufau) have died since the making of this film.

Filmmakers Peter Stuart and Adam Small came upon a large scale project which immediately captured their imagination: the Better Youth Organization of Los Angeles was planning a North American tour. Eleven assorted punks would be traveling across the country in a broken down school bus. It was a chance to explore and document the punk community more extensively than ever before.
On August 17, 1982, armed with one production assistant, Stuart and Small set off in their rental truck on this journey through the underground. For six weeks and ten thousand miles, they recorded the adventures of the two touring bands – Youth Brigade and Social Distortion. More than just concert footage, this film documents the rich collection of characters in and around the tour, and the hardships and dangers of life on the road. The film was made on the cheap side and the scenes that feature instructions for slam dancing were filmed as filler so that the film would be at a viable length for release and distribution.
The poster was designed by Josh Freeman, now president and creative director of FreeAssociates, the design/advertising agency in Los Angeles.

Agent Orange has had an enormous influence on the skate punk or skate-core scene even though band members stated on Living in Darkness that "We don't like skating at all." Mike has also stated that he didn't talk much in early interviews and would sometimes disagree with what the band made seem like a unanimous opinion.

Agent Orange is an American rock band formed in Orange County, California in 1979. The band is one of the first to mix punk rock with surf music. They first gained attention with their song "Bloodstains" which they released on their own 7" E.P. An early demo of the song was presented to Pasadena radio station KROQ's D.J. Rodney Bingenheimer, which soon became one of his show's biggest hits.
Besides having Mike Palm and Scott Miller as original members, Steve Soto was the power trio's first bass player, the one who played on the first "Bloodstains". The Darkness Version of this song later appeared on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. Soto later left the band to form The Adolescents. We actualy started to film a real promo video in Vegas for this song but never finished it because the band U2 beat us to the punch again with one of there new videos with a simalur Idea, they where faster and had alot more money than we did so we would try to shoot something but before we could finish it or get it started U2 would have theres done and aired, it happen twice with us. maybe we where on the same page with them but not the same stage.
