Calling the President of Ecuador and all responsible people of the planet
Calling the President of Ecuador and all responsible people of the planet
The President must keep his word and obey the Constitution: Respect for the Constitution of Ecuador. The government has spent all these years (since 2007 when it was launched the Yasuni-ITT), and with great success, telling the world that it is important to keep the ITT because it is an area "inhabited by tribal people in voluntary isolation". "The Constitution of Ecuador, driven by the same Government and approved in 2008, Article 57 states: "The territories of tribal people in voluntary isolation are irreducible and intangible ancestral possession, and they shall be closed to all extractive activities . The state shall take measures to ensure their lives, to respect their determination and will to remain in isolation, and safeguard the enforcement of their rights. The violation of these rights constitute a crime of ethnocide, being the state that shall ensure the implementation of these collective rights without discrimination, in conditions of equality and equity between women and men " Thus, according to the Government itself, the oil activity in this area would be unconstitutional, as well as committing a crime of ethnocide. The Yasuni National Park is located in the Ecuadorian Amazon region, in the provinces of Orellana and Pastaza. It is the most biologically diverse region in the world and is also the territory of uncontacted tribes living in voluntary isolation as theTagaeri or Taromenane. As a result only cooperative activities would be compatible with ecological practices, and is prohibited by the Ecuadorian Constitution any extractive activity. Today, from various groups committed to change the extractive model we join to save the Yasuní and what this means. Join us in our fight organizing your friends in your community, talking with your acquaintances, sharing information and being an activist in your city. Be attentive to the notices and action campaigns, together we are stronger! I Am Yasuni
(Directed by Nico Entel)
In the heart of the Amazon, within Ecuador's Yasuní National Park, there are 846 million barrels of oil, equivalent to 20% of the country's reserves, located in the ITT field. The Yasuní National Park contains the world's most extensive biodiversity, and is home to two tribes who have voluntarily remained isolated from civilization, the Tagaeri and Taromenane. In 2007, the President of Ecuador Rafael Correa announced at the United Nations' General Assembly the country's commitment to preserve indefinitely these reserves. In return, President Correa asks for the international community's co-responsibility to preserve the environment, by asking contributions totaling 3.6 billion dollars over 13 years, equivalent to less than 50% of the oil's estimated market value. The funds are administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and will fund projects that meet defined objectives, thus guaranteeing transparency and effective use of resources.

Valentina Guerrero
Valentina Guerrero was born in Miami Beach on September 16, 2011, and came with a little surprise: an extra chromosome. Her name translated to English means Brave Warrior. She taught her parents Juan Fernando and Ceceliz to focus on the positive aspects of life instead of the challenges, and inspired them to help change the perception of her condition. They realized the capacity of individuals born with Down syndrome to enlighten others through their experiences. Propelled by a parent’s love, Juan Fernando and Ceceliz launched their campaign through the fashion world by pairing Valentina with the renowned European fashion designer Dolores Cortés. At 9 months old, Valentina was chosen to represent the children’s collection DC Kids USA 2013 and became the first person with Down syndrome to serve as the main model for a major fashion brand.
Valentina has graced the covers of various publications including People Magazine. Tr3s aired her story in a one hour episode as well as other national and international TV shows; in 2012 she was named one of the Top 10 Models under 16 sharing the list with Cindy Crawford’s daughter and Kate Moss’ sister; and she received a letter from the Vice President of Ecuador stating that she is an inspiration to the country and will help change the image of Trisomy 21.
Over 200 articles have been published about her around the world, from Brazil, to Israel and Indonesia. Social media welcomed her enthusiastically, one facebook post about her has garnered more than 2.3 million likes. Join Valentina’s army of Warriors on facebook and twitter: @BraveWarriorVG
