Keith sings and plays all the instruments (electric & acoustic & bow guitars, keyboards, bass, percussion and effects). Mainly acoustic album but heavy, fuzzy and phaser guitars are all over. A full of soul and deep feelings atmosphere vibrates the sensitive lyrics of charismatic Keith Law. Plot - 'Saudamini' (Shabana Azmi) is a bright village girl with academic ambitions and an appetite for literature and philosophy. Her intellectual uncle (Utpal Dutt) indulges her brainy bent, encouraging her studies and running interference between Mini and her mother (Sudha Shivpuri), a pious widow whose only concern is to see Mini married, and quickly. Mini has a nascent love affair with her neighbor Narendra (Vikram), the zamindar's son, a student in Calcutta who on his frequent visits brings her Victorian literature, listens raptly to her discourse, and is bold enough to kiss her opportunistically when they are caught together in a rainstorm. Circumstances conspire against Mini and Narendra, though, and soon Mini finds herself married against her wishes to a wheat trader 'Ghanshyam' (Girish Karnad) from a neighboring village. Plunged into despair, Mini struggles to become accustomed to life in her unwanted marriage and her new home, where Ganshyam's stepmother seems to favor Mini's sisters-in-law and where her new husband treats her with a patience that she finds perplexing.
Soundtrack - The music is by veteran music director, Rajesh Roshan, and he received a Filmfare nomination for composing some memorable numbers, one sung by vocalist Yesudas, "Kaa Karoon Sajni" and Lata Mangeshkar's, "Pal Bhar Mein Yeh Kya Ho Gaya". -----------

Ahmednagar (Marathi: अहमदनगर, Urdu: احمد نگر) is a city of Ahmednagar District in the state of Maharashtra, India, on the west bank of the Sina river, about 120 km northeast of Pune and 120 km from Aurangabad. The town was founded in 1494 by Ahmad Nizam Shah on the site of a more ancient city, Bhingar. With the breakup of the Bahmani Sultanate, Ahmad established a new sultanate in Ahmednagar, also known as Nizam Shahi dynasty. It was one of the Deccan sultanates, which lasted until its conquest by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1636.

Ahmednagar Fort, once considered the second most unimpregnable fort in India, was used by the British to house Jawaharlal Nehru (the first prime minister of India) and other Indian Nationalists before Indian independence. A few rooms there have been converted to a museum. In the run up to the climate change negotiations in Paris this December, Professor Philippe Sands QC delivered a public lecture at the UK Supreme Court focusing on the role of international law and judges in addressing legal issues relating to climate change.
Professor Sands considered some of the key challenges, including (i) the limited number of actions taken by States as international legislature, (ii) the limits of the judicial function in interpreting and applying the law and not acting as a legislature, (iii) issues of scientific uncertainty, (iv) problems of evidence and expertise, and (v) the interrelationship of environmental, economic, social and other factors inherent in issues related to climate change.
The evening was introduced by Lord Carnwath, Justice of the UK Supreme Court and member of the International Advisory Council for Environmental Justice of UNEP. After the lecture, discussion was introduced by comments from Professor James Crawford, Judge of the International Court of Justice, and Professor Lavanya Rajamani, Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi.
This lecture was part of a three-day symposium on climate change and the rule of law hosted by the Dickson Poon School of Law, The Supreme Court and HM Government. The symposium brought together leading judges, practitioners and academics from across the globe to consider the ways in which climate change permeates, disrupts and shapes processes of adjudication.

Law
Law is a system of rules that are enforced through social institutions to govern behavior. Rekha has acted in over 180 films in a career that has spanned 40 years. She has reinvented herself numerous times in her career and is known for her ability to sustain her status. Taking part in both Indian mainstream and art cinema, known in India as parallel cinema, she has achieved commercial success, as well as critical praise for numerous of her performances throughout the years. Ahmednagar (Marathi: अहमदनगर, Urdu: احمد نگر) is a city of Ahmednagar District in the state of Maharashtra, India, on the west bank of the Sina river, about 120 km northeast of Pune and 120 km from Aurangabad. The town was founded in 1494 by Ahmad Nizam Shah on the site of a more ancient city, Bhingar. With the breakup of the Bahmani Sultanate, Ahmad established a new sultanate in Ahmednagar, also known as Nizam Shahi dynasty. It was one of the Deccan sultanates, which lasted until its conquest by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1636. Aurangzeb, the last great Mughal emperor, who spent the latter years of his reign, 1681-1707, in the Deccan, died at Khuldabad near Aurangabad in 1707, and a small monument marks the site. In 1759 the Peshwa of the Marathas obtained possession of the place and in 1790 it was ceded by the Peshwa to the Maratha chief Daulat Rao Sindhia. Ahmednagar was invaded by a British force under General Wellesley and captured. It was afterwards restored to the Marathas, but again came into the possession of the British in 1817, according to the terms of the Treaty of Poona. Numerous Mughal-era buildings dot the environs. Ahmednagar Fort, once considered the second most unimpregnable fort in India, was used by the British to house Jawaharlal Nehru (the first prime minister of India) and other Indian Nationalists before Indian independence. A few rooms there have been converted to a museum. In the run up to the climate change negotiations in Paris this December, Professor Philippe Sands QC delivered a public lecture at the UK Supreme Court focusing on the role of international law and judges in addressing legal issues relating to climate change. Professor Sands considered some of the key challenges, including (i) the limited number of actions taken by States as international legislature, (ii) the limits of the judicial function in interpreting and applying the law and not acting as a legislature, (iii) issues of scientific uncertainty, (iv) problems of evidence and expertise, and (v) the interrelationship of environmental, economic, social and other factors inherent in issues related to climate change. The evening was introduced by Lord Carnwath, Justice of the UK Supreme Court and member of the International Advisory Council for Environmental Justice of UNEP. After the lecture, discussion was introduced by comments from Professor James Crawford, Judge of the International Court of Justice, and Professor Lavanya Rajamani, Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi. This lecture was part of a three-day symposium on climate change and the rule of law hosted by the Dickson Poon School of Law, The Supreme Court and HM Government. The symposium brought together leading judges, practitioners and academics from across the globe to consider the ways in which climate change permeates, disrupts and shapes processes of adjudication. Plunged into despair, Mini struggles to become accustomed to life in her unwanted marriage and her new home, where Ganshyam's stepmother seems to favor Mini's sisters-in-law and where her new husband treats her with a patience that she finds perplexing.

In the run up to the climate change negotiations in Paris this December, Professor Philippe Sands QC delivered a public lecture at the UK Supreme Court focusing on the role of international law and judges in addressing legal issues relating to climate change.
Professor Sands considered some of the key challenges, including (i) the limited number of actions taken by States as international legislature, (ii) the limits of the judicial function in interpreting and applying the law and not acting as a legislature, (iii) issues of scientific uncertainty, (iv) problems of evidence and expertise, and (v) the interrelationship of environmental, economic, social and other factors inherent in issues related to climate change.
The evening was introduced by Lord Carnwath, Justice of the UK Supreme Court and member of the International Advisory Council for Environmental Justice of UNEP. After the lecture, discussion was introduced by comments from Professor James Crawford, Judge of the International Court of Justice, and Professor Lavanya Rajamani, Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi.
This lecture was part of a three-day symposium on climate change and the rule of law hosted by the Dickson Poon School of Law, The Supreme Court and HM Government. The symposium brought together leading judges, practitioners and academics from across the globe to consider the ways in which climate change permeates, disrupts and shapes processes of adjudication.

Serving as judges for the finals are Deborah Lynch, U.S. magistrate judge for the Southern District of Indiana; retired Monroe County Circuit Judge and Sagamore of the Wabash recipient Viola J. Taliaferro, a 1977 graduate of the law school; Mary Ellen Diekhoff, a 1986 graduate, Monroe County circuit judge, presiding judge of the Monroe County Drug Treatment Court and adjunct professor in the IU Department of Criminal Justice and at the Maurer School of Law; Bryan Babb, a 1999 graduate, chair of the Appellate Services Group, Bose McKinney & Evans LLP; and Maurer Dean and James H. Rudy Professor of Law Austen L. Parrish.
This year’s case, Pataki v. Lark Valley School District Board of Education, raises questions about the proper constitutional balance between public employees’ First Amendment rights to speak out on controversial issues, on the one hand, and the interests of elected officials in implementing their policies without obstruction on the other.
Marcia Pataki, an employee of the Lark Valley school system, was fired after writing an op-ed in the local newspaper on the topic of vaccinating children against contagious diseases. The op-ed was published during a contentious school board election cycle, and in it Pataki noted that one of the board candidates had claimed a religious exemption to avoid vaccinating her children. The school board fired Pataki, who then sued the district for violation of her free speech rights. Complicating matters, three potential jurors -- members of a sect opposed to vaccinations -- were struck from the jury pool by one of the parties, apparently solely because of their religion. The Supreme Court has long held that jurors may not be struck on the basis of race or gender but has not yet decided whether that rule applies to religion.
Arguing the case Friday will be second-year Maurer students Ian Bensberg, Morgan Davenport, Riley Floyd and Samuel Hofmeier, who advanced to the finals out of an initial field of 151 competitors.
“This competition has been one of the strongest in recent memory, with more than three-quarters of our second-year class participating,” said professor Seth Lahn, the moot court faculty advisor. “The opportunity to argue a hypothetical case before distinguished advocates and real judges, who hear these types of issues on a daily basis, is an invaluable opportunity for students. We couldn’t be more proud of the work our students have put in, or more appreciative of the time and resources our alumni and volunteers have dedicated to make this event possible.”

Why Sex (Still) Impacts the Perception and Evaluation of Other Status-Linked Identities
Women and Public Policy Program, Harvard Kennedy School
Kerri Johnson, Assistant Professor, University of California, Los Angeles. This talk aims to shed light on the processes that bias perceptions of others, which simultaneously fall into multiple social categories (i.e., intersectionality). I will describe two routes by which perceptual biases occur. A bottom-up route to intersectional biases in social perception occurs when phenotypic cues for various social categories overlap, resulting in a systematic bias in judgments. A top-down route to intersectional biases in social perception occurs when stereotype content among various social categories overlap (e.g., stereotypes for "Black" and "Men" both include strong, aggressive, etc.), also resulting in a systematic bias in judgments. I will present data suggesting that both of these possibilities operate routinely - leading the perception of one social category to bias the perception of other social categories and, subsequently, impacting real world outcomes. This perspective will enhance our understanding of the biases in social perception - ranging from the production and perception of cues for social category membership to their ultimate impact on interpersonal behavior.

He is a product of the New York City school system -- educated at P.S. 205, Brooklyn; Seth Low Junior High School, Brooklyn; and, Stuyvesant High School. He received: a B.A., with a History Major, from Brooklyn College in June 1966; an M.A. in American History from Indiana University, January 1968; a Sixth Year Certificate in School Supervision and Administration from Richmond College (the predecessor of the College of Staten Island), June 1974; and, a J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School, June 1980. Arthur Schack taught Social Studies full time in the New York City schools from February 1968 to June 1982, the last thirteen years at Bay Ridge High School. At Bay Ridge High School, he also chaired the Program Committee from 1977 to 1982, and was the UFT Chapter Chairman from 1973 to 1982. Prior to attending law school at night, Arthur Schack was a part time member of the UFT Brooklyn office staff from 1973 1976. The Justice's involvement in union affairs and labor law led to the Judge's employment with the Major League Baseball Player's Association, the collective bargaining representative for all of Major League Baseball. Arthur Schack served as Counsel for the Association from August 1982 to December 31, 1998. He was deeply involved with the enforcement of the collective bargaining agreement, salary arbitration, free agency and union administration................... In November 1998, Arthur Schack was elected to the Civil Court of the City of New York, from Kings County, for a ten-year term. Justice Schack served in Manhattan Criminal Court from January 1999 to September 2000, and in Brooklyn Criminal Court from September 2000 to January 2002. From February 2002 until December 31, 2003, he served in the Brooklyn Civil Court. In November 2003, Justice Schack was elected to the Supreme Court of the State of New York, 2nd Judicial District (Kings and Richmond Counties). He presently sits in the Civil Term. Justice Schack's legal scholarship has been recognized, with more than 235 of his decisions published by the New York State Official Reporter and the New York Law Journal. More than 50 of the published decisions deal with foreclosure issues. He has been a guest speaker about foreclosure issues with the New York Judiciary, the Vermont Judiciary, various local bar associations, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Judge-Advocate General Corps officers of the United States military, CBS, the Fox Business Channel, PBS and MSNBC.
