Born in New York in 1957, Prajna grew up on the east coast. After graduating from Boston University, she lived and worked in an ashram for three years. After a surprise visit from her first spiritual teacher, who told her, to "Get On With It," she moved to California. She was referring to the essential discovery of who we are. There she was introduced to Satsang with Non-dual Teachings of Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta Maharaj. In 1986 she had a profound realization "I am the Self" and spent seven years in and out of various Samadhi's (deep meditative states of absorption with spirit). "I watched my identity shift and saw thought to be unreal—a passing sensation." Throughout this period she founded and ran a very successful business in Silicon Valley, and her first child was born at home in her living room without complications. "It was as easy as eating pumpkin pie." She refers to this as the "honeymoon phase of spiritual awakening." In 1996, two years later, twins were born to her, three months premature, smaller than her hands. Her twins did not come clothed in lotus blossoms, basking in bliss like her first child. They were blind with severe brain injuries. During a dark night, in 1999, Adyashanti's teaching came knocking at her door. His clarity on The Mysteries of Christ, and teaching that "spiritual awakening is just the beginning," opened her eyes to a new life of possibilities. A deeper realization continues to unfold, remove scales from her eyes, and to include life with her children as critical teachers. In 2001, right after 9/11 Prajna dedicated herself to the Bodhisattva vow and was called to offer Satsang from her direct experience. She offered meetings, intensive, retreats and private sessions on the east coast and in California for seven years. In 2008, a family crisis led her to temporarily let go of her professional life and to give all of her time and energy to her children. Prajna is professionally trained as a Body Centered Psychotherapist (Hakomi Method and Transpersonal Psychology), with Graduate studies in Pastoral Counseling and Theology. She is certified in multiple holistic healing modalities. She founded The Flowing River School and Sangha, (formerly The Village School and Family Support Center), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the inclusion of people with developmental delays in programs that heal and liberate. She's been very active in Waldorf Education with training in teaching and remedial movement. More recently she is exploring permaculture design, healing, and sustainability within the Shapibo tradition. Prajna currently offers teachings, healings, and meetings that support seekers and non-seekers of all walks of life to discover a deep and lasting fulfillment regardless of life circumstances. She is about to publish her first book, "Emerging As Mountain — An Awakened Mother's Journey — Living Live As It Is".
