SILVER & the Russian Ruble DEVALUATION w' Putin the Cat
SILVER & the Russian Ruble DEVALUATION w' Putin the Cat The Russian Ruble is an excellent lesson in currency devaluation, For 500 years before the Bolshevik Revolution, Russia had a stable currency with the Ruble valued at 28 grams of silver. From 1921 on the Russian Ruble has been immensely devalued several times over. For example 1,000,000 million Rubles in 1920 would have been worth 1 Ruble in late 1924. For 500 years the Russian currency was stable until the bankster plotted for the Bolshevik Revolution and basically turned Russian into a slave state that is run oligarchs and those politically connected. The same fate waits the United States of America is the average American is not persistently vigilant and proactive in preparing for contingencies. US dollars to be swept out of Russia
US dollars to be swept out of Russia
One of the world's reserve currencies, the U.S. dollar, may soon disappear in Russia. According to deputies of the State Duma, the Russians trust the dollar, despite the U.S. crisis. Russian MPs are worried that the dollar system may collapse in 2017 due to the growth of the U.S. government debt. Michael Dyagterev, politician, member of the State Duma from the Liberal Democratic Party "The main objective of the bill is to have a discussion. This is multi- task goal, one of the parts of which is to stop the entry of the dollar in Russia. The second task is to push our leaders towards making all our export operations, including oil and gas ones, in rubles. And, as the crown of the strategy, to create a global reserve currency called the ruble. There's nothing to fear. It's the Americans who should be worried. Their national debt is 17 trillion dollars, and it will grow from month to month. Buildup debt is a strategy of the American elite. Since debt is a process that has its end, then the process will end with a default or any other type of turmoil. We need to convert all reserves of the country into gold. No currency should be left there, all paper reserves are disastrous for Russia. This is also a part of the strategy that should be conducted." Should the bill on the ban of the circulation and storage of U.S. dollars in Russia be approved, the owners of American bank notes will have to either spend their dollar cash within one year or exchange it for another currency. Otherwise, banks will be forced to sell dollars at an average exchange rate of the previous year. There will be special measures provided to prevent the storage and use of dollars. The American currency will be seized by law enforcement agencies for a period of up to 30 days, and then exchanged and returned to the owner in the domestic currency. Michael Dyagterev, politician, member of the State Duma from the Liberal Democratic Party. "With regard to the dollars kept by citizens, the bill stipulated no special measures. We simply encourage people to convert all their dollar deposits in rubles, exchange all cash dollars for rubles, or some reliable currency, for example, the Swiss franc, or buy gold. In the event dollars are found, the state will pay the equivalent in rubles, dollars will be withdraw from circulation and exchanged for rubles." Will the bill come into force? It is obvious that it will trigger a vivid discussion reminiscent to the never-ending debate between Westerners and Slavophiles. And whose side are you on?- published: 14 Nov 2013

POLYGONES by COLIN DELFOSSE / OUT OF FOCUS
Kazakhstan is trying to finally cut ties with the Soviet era on the dawn of the 20th anniversary of its independence. Its new capital Astana known as the «Dubai of the steppes » is the symbol of this modernity. Whilst all eyes are on it, the rest of the country remains profoundly marked by 70 years of a Soviet regime that used the country as its testing ground.
When the Soviet Union fell, Moscow brutally gave unwanted independence to the Kazakhs. From one day to the next thousands of soldiers and scientists left the country, leaving behind them dozens of ghost towns. These former military firing ranges, forbidden towns for local populations under Soviet rule, were home to arms programmes : ballistic missiles, nuclear bombs, biological weapons.
Sarry Shagan, anti-ballistic missile testing range that is more than 20,000 km2 in size, bordered Lake Balkash to the east, spreading deep into the deserted steppes of central Kazakhstan. The Soviets tested their ballistic missiles there but also laser weapon prototypes. After the fall of the USSR, the Russians kept control over most of the installations, creating real Russian enclaves within Kazakh territory. Soldiers from both countries frequented each other in the bazaars and cafés of the former closed city of Priorserk. Little by little the land is slowly being given back to Kazakhstan. Inhabitants from neighbouring villages now come and help themselves from the shells of remaining buildings. Metal, bricks, wood : as soon as a base has been abandoned it is reduced to nothing within a year.
Further north, not far from the Russian border, the Semipalantinsk firing range was home to the Soviet nuclear missile testing programme. Between 1949 and 1989, more than 456 nuclear bombs were tested there. The Soviet Union was right in the middle of the Cold War. On the 29th August 1991, Nursultan Nazarbaev, who was the then Secretary of the Kazakh Communist Party, responded to the anti-nuclear movement by closing down the site.
When the USSR fell, Nursultan Nazarbaev became president and signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The region has been profoundly marked, a fact reflected in the bleak statistics : the highest thyroid cancer rate in the world, an area half the size of Belgium exposed to radiation.
The Baikonur Cosmodrome is the last pawn on the chessboard of Soviet military presence in Kazakhstan. Built in 1955, it was the pride of the USSR and started life as just a simple missile launch facility. The Cosmodrome became the showcase of military and scientific progress during the Cold War. The Space Race was in full swing and Moscow made headlines by putting the first living being into orbit around the earth : the dog Laika in 1957. This was followed by Yuri Gagarine’s flight in space in 1961. Baikonur is now the last remaining space launch facility still in action. It is a few hours train ride away from what remains of the Aral sea and has been rented by the Russians for 115 million dollars a year since the fall of the Soviet Union. Kazakhs are now beginning to gain permission to work in this closed city run by the Russian Army and where the ruble is the only currency. The real village of Baikonur was 300kms away and destined to deceive spies. In the long run the Russians plan to withdraw the Cosmodrome to a site inland in Russia, which will finally seal the fate of Russian military firing ranges and therefore Soviet history in Kazakhstan.

TU- 95...a flying "BEAR"
First flown in 1952, the Tu-95 entered service with the Soviet Union in 1956 and is expected to serve the Russian Air Force until at least 2040...OR until the ruble (RUB) becomes value-less. Whichever comes first.
6 years past, while visiting a few cousins, nr. Ryazan (Russia), I had the occasion of being conjoled to chase a few of these across the skies...from aero-port to A.P. ...with a shoulder-holster containing a liter of "Kalashnikov AK- 47" Russian vodka, as is a common practice in that region:

Poverty trap - a story about poor Tanya and her family
Oleg Tebazov lives with his wife and two children in an 11-meter room of a family dormitory, that he received from the government when he left orphanage. He owes a lot of money to “Russian standart” bank. As soon as Oleg finds a job, the bank will find him. That’s why Oleg doesn’t work. That’s why he doesn’t pay his debts. His wife Tanya gets only 4000 rubles a month working as a cleaning lady. Their two-year old diabetic son needs special food, but Tanya can‘t afford it. Their neighbours think she is a bad mother and that it would be better for the children to live in an orphanage. The neighbors, irritated by the burden of helping this family to buy essential foodstuffs, are thinking to report them to the authorities. Little Dima can repeat the fate of his father.

Indesirables
Rejected, constantly persecuted by the local authorities, he doesn’t give up. He fights every day for his own survival.
Dismissed a long time ago from his position of forest ranger, he continues to watch over the nature around his house, trying to keep away the poachers whom destroy and kill every living being. He also stands up to the woodcutters and tries to protect what’s left of the forest.
He was being intimidated, threatened, violently beaten, his house was once burned down, but he was and still is a man who is not afraid to fight for causes he believes are right and truly good.
He doesn’t fear to call the people who are responsible of this mess in the country by their names, even though they are powerful, influential and almost invincible.
With his very modest pension of 9 thousand rubles (200 euros!) he finds a way to take care of three minor children three months a year, children over whom he has a guardianship.
The rest of the year, while they’re living in a boarding school, he helps them buy schoolbooks, clothes and food. Other kids, abandoned by their parents, want to live with him.
He doesn’t reject anyone; every child for him is like his own.
According to statistics, there are almost 3 million homeless children in Russia. The number was even lower at the end of the Russian Civil War in 1921.
In December 2012, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law, which directly forbids the citizens of the USA from adopt children from orphanages, especially the disabled children.
This law had been passed in response to the USA’s “Magnitsky Act” in which Russian officials were ‘punished’ for the death of a man who exposed enormous fraud involving officials responsible of the embezzlement of public funds.
As a counterattack, 420 deputies of the State Duma, the Federation Council and the President Putin himself simply took hostages thousands of disadvantaged, helpless and poor children, by taking away from them the hope and possibility to someday find a home and a family, literally leading many of them to death.
Children became the “fractional money” in the dirty political games of the Russian authority.
