Eun Yang

Eun Yang (born 1976) is a Korean American morning news anchor for NBC4/WRC-TV, the local NBC television affiliate in Washington, DC.

Prior to her position at News 4, she was one of the first reporters hired by the National Geographic Channel in Washington, DC. Earlier she worked for 6 years at W*USA 9, where she began as a reporter trainee and made her way up to substitute anchor.

Biography

Eun Yang was born in Seoul, South Korea and grew up in the Washington, DC, area. She graduated from Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville, Maryland. She earned a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park. She now sits on the Board of Visitors for the Philip Merrill College of Journalism.

Professional career

Eun Yang began her broadcast journalism career while at the University of Maryland. She worked as a reporter for Maryland Update, a program on the University's cable channel, then moved to TV-58 where she freelanced as a special projects reporter for Asian-Pacific American affairs. She joined WUSA as a production assistant while she was in her last year of college and worked her way up to fill-in anchor at the station. She then joined the National Geographic Channel as a correspondent for National Geographic Today.

Prix de Lausanne

The Prix de Lausanne is an International dance competition held annually in Lausanne, Switzerland. The competition is for young dancers seeking to pursue a professional career in classical ballet, and many former prize winners of the competition are now leading stars with major ballet companies around the world. The competition is managed by a non-profit foundation organised by the Fondation en faveur de l'Art chorégraphique and is maintained by various sponsors, patrons and donors.

History

The Prix de Lausanne was founded in 1973 by the Swiss industrialist Philippe Braunschweig and his wife Elvire. Philippe, although not a dancer, became interested in dance as a young man. His Russian dancer wife developed his interest further.

The Braunschweigs created the competition after noticing the lack of financial support to young dance students, particularly those from small regional schools, wishing to attend professional level programs.

He started by approaching Rosella Hightower and Maurice Béjart who drew up the rules for the competition.
