Devala, India
Devala is a town in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. It is situated at about 16 km from Gudalur on the Gudalur–Pandalur road. A stream originating from here flows to Kerala and reaches Maruthappuzha in Malappuram district of Kerala.
Devala is a very scenic place with undulating tea estates and lush green villages. There is no accommodation available in this little town. Gold Hotel is the only restaurant with vegetarian lunch provided. There are gold mines in Devala.It is a wonderfull place.

Devala Hatty is famous for its beautiful natural scenery, such as the rolling tea plantations and lively green villages. The area gets a lot of rain, which has earned it the nickname "Cherrapunji of the South." Devala is a small village located in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. It is approximately 16 kilometers away from Gudalur on the Gudalur-Pandalur road. If you coming from Gudallur town before Nadukani ghat checkpost, there is one petrol bunk, called SM Petroleum, and right in the front of the road leading to the location. Local officials also confirmed that the probable cause of death was due to the elephant falling inside the mine.

Devala Hatty is famous for its beautiful natural scenery, such as the rolling tea plantations and lively green villages. The area gets a lot of rain, which has earned it the nickname "Cherrapunji of the South."
Devala is a small village located in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. It is approximately 16 kilometers away from Gudalur on the Gudalur-Pandalur road. If you coming from Gudallur town before Nadukani ghat checkpost, there is one petrol bunk, called SM Petroleum, and right in the front of the road leading to the location.
Driving or riding through this road is an amazing experience. The road is surrounded by beautiful tea estates, and sometimes you might even spot wild animals like elephants and deer in the area.

The remains of a 12-year-old tusker, which died after falling into one of the thousands of illegal mines in Devala, Gudalur, over six months back, was found by Forest Department officials Recently.
The remains were discovered after the recent rains washed away a layer of soil that had been dumped inside the mine by illegal miners.
Local conservationists and Forest Department officials said there were more than 5,000 such illegal mines in the area — an important corridor for wildlife to move between the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Gudalur, Wayanad and Nilambur.
These mines are more than 45-m deep. The elephant is believed to have slipped into the mine and survived. The miners possibly covered up the mine to prevent the incident from being noticed by the department.
Local officials also confirmed that the probable cause of death was due to the elephant falling inside the mine.
A few days ago, an elephant calf had fallen into one of the mines and was rescued by the department, which reunited it with its herd later which moved many of us
