A rogues gallery (or rogues' gallery) is a police collection of pictures or photographs of criminals and suspects kept for identification purposes. The term is also used figuratively by extension for any group of shady characters or the line-up of 'mugshot' photographs that might be displayed in the halls of a dormitory or workplace.

In 1857, Allan Pinkerton founded the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. Pinkerton devised the Rogues’ Gallery^{[citation needed]} — a compilation of descriptions, methods of operation (modus operandi), hiding places, and names of criminals and their associates.

Inspector Thomas Byrnes of the late-19th-century New York City Police Department popularized the term with his collection of photographs of known criminals, which was used for witness identification. Byrnes published some of these photos with details of the criminals in Professional Criminals of America (1886).

James Roderick Moir (born 24 January 1959), better known by the stage name Vic Reeves, is an English comedian, best known for his double act with Bob Mortimer (see Vic and Bob). He is known for his surreal and non sequitur sense of humour.

In 2003, he and Bob Mortimer were listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy. In a 2005 poll to find The Comedian's Comedian, Reeves and Mortimer were voted the 9th greatest comedy act ever by fellow comedians and comedy insiders.

James Roderick Moir was born in Leeds, the son of James Neill (1926–2004) and Audrey Moir (née Leigh). At the age of five, he moved to Darlington with his parents and younger sister Lois. He attended Heathfield Nursery and went on to the nearby secondary school, Eastbourne Comprehensive in Darlington.

Moir has four children; the eldest two are Alice Vincent Moir (born May 1993) and Louis Vincent Moir (born July 1997 in York), by his first wife Sarah Vincent, whom he married in 1990. They divorced in 1999.

Sarah Jane Steele (born September 16, 1988) is an American actress who got her first break into the film industry by beating thousands of young hopeful females for the role of Bernice in the 2004 film, Spanglish.

Steele was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her father, George, is a doctor specializing in nutrition and diet. Steele graduated with the class of 2006 from The Episcopal Academy, a well-received private school in southeast Pennsylvania. She graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York in 2011 with a B.A. in Comparative literature. She continues to live in Brooklyn with other young professionals.

After her breakout role in Spanglish, Steele continued acting for a short while, appearing on an episode of Law & Order and appearing in two films, Mr. Gibb, which co-stars Hayden Panettiere, Tim Daly and Dan Hedaya and Margaret, which co-stars Matt Damon, Matthew Broderick, Anna Paquin, Mark Ruffalo, and Allison Janney. Steele was recently on the New York stage in an off-Broadway production of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, which ran for a few months at the Acorn Theatre.
