Chuwit Kamolvisit, the leader of the Rak Prathet Thai party, was on his way to vote when he got into the scuffle. He was filmed holding the anti-government demonstrator in a headlock. The protests began as an attempt to overthrow Yingluck Shinawatra, the Prime Minister and remove her family from politics. Her brother Thaksin was ousted from power with allegations of corruption surrounding him, and many believe he still exerts influence from exile.
