Comments allege that the CCP still need to follow this protocol at Mao's anniversary since Mao represents the origin of the CCP regime although there are more and more disclosure and criticism of Mao among the people. On the morning of the 120th anniversary of Mao's birthday, Xi Jinping and other 6 members of the Standing Committee visited Mao's remains in the Memorial Hall and bowed three times to the seated figure.
