Ohio Bush Planes :: Any Given Sunday :: WAS
This video was hijacked by an underground country western cult.
HE HE HE
********************************
"Any Given Sunday" showcases a couple of hill-side landings. In this episode, we get to know our tour guide John a bit. Flying in formation, he takes us to a registered airport located on a steep hill in Eastern Ohio (The Ski Slope). Camera operator, Greg doesn't know there's a secondary curved runway on the back side of the hill when John comes in for his second approach. Greg starts laughing and shaking the camera when John disappears (and then reappears at the peak). It looked so fun Greg gave it a whirl. John thought Greg overshot the peak and started to hit the deck, so it gets a little shaky there too. These guys are kinda learning how to work these small janky cameras as they go...
Next they hop in John's Jeep and scope out an old spot John used to land his Super Cub on (Petroleum Point). It's the top part of a steep, rough hill with an oil well at the apex. They landed a couple different angles and bolted back home. It was really eerily quiet on top of that hill.
Bios:
John is a happily married, easy going, yet energetic chap who doesn't get worked up about much. He says it how it is. In the same voice he might invite you to dinner he might also remind you of mortality, which is kind of the way I prefer it at this stage in life and in this stage of flying...On Petrol-Point, right before he turned "final" to land, he came on the radio to say that he'd hop out after he's landed to get Greg on the camera, "cuz you never know, it might be your last one".
Greg is a dirty, happily unmarried, middle aged child who can't get enuf of this flying stuff. He can't read or write and we're not sure what language he speaks.
FAQs:
Q: What is "Ohio"?
A: Ohio is a state. It's geographically located between Indiana and West Virginia. It is home of the rubber industry, a large testing ground for the fast food industry, and last but not least, the birthplace of aviation, although our license plates are currently having it out with North Carlina's license plates as to who is cooler in the aviation spectrum. I'm sticking with Dayton on this one. I say we settle out of court. They can have NASCAR.
Q: Isn't Ohio Bush Planes an oxymoron?
A: Work with us here. We try to edit out most of the smoke stacks & strip malls. Besides, if everyone lived in Alaska the Russians would start putting interest back into Cuba, and let's face it, we want Cuba.
Q: Why does your new HD footage look worse than your old standard definition footage?
A: -Not sure and it kind of bums me out. It looks better tho if you click on the full screen button to the lower right side of the video. As a default, vimeo plays the HD stuff at half size.
Q: Will you reenact the WWII Bombing of Dresden for my grandpa at his 88th birthday party? We have a big 500 ft back yard.
A: No, hire a clown.
Q: What if I told you my grandpa is Senator John Glenn?
A: Yes, we'll be over in 10 minutes. Save us some chocolate cake.
Q: Are you guys seriously legal?
A: You'd be surprised. Most of this video was made on a green-screen and background video is put in to give the sensation of flight. We do not recommend doing anything we do in our videos b/c it's just physically not possible...But since you asked, our planes are up to code and so are we. We even have up to date charts. John has all of his shots and Greg still has most of his teeth. We fly en route above published MEAs and have been studying our IFR books too much lately.
Q: Why are you trashing your airplanes? Shouldn't you save them for "the hundred dollar hamburger"?
A: We actually aren't trashing them. Again, it's mostly special effects, right down to the clouds. Our planes only leave the heated hangar a handful of times during the summer for fly-ins and pancake breakfasts. The "mud" on the tires is actually organically grown peanut butter applied by a team of vegetable rights activists at the Disney Ranch just north of Los Angeles. The peanut butter is then given to a non-profit for distribution to the homeless and Greg.
Q: Aren't peanuts "nuts" and not vegetables?
A: They're actually legumes. The plant's name derives from a combination of the morphemes pea and nut, causing some confusion as to the nature of the fruit. In the botanical sense the fruit of the peanut plant is a woody, indehiscent legume and not a nut. The word pea describes the edible seeds of many other legumes in the Fabaceae family, and in that sense, a peanut is a kind of pea. Although a peanut is not a nut, in the culinary arts peanuts are utilized similarly to nuts.
Peanuts are also known as earthnuts, goobers, goober peas, pindas, jack nuts, pinders, manila nuts, g-nuts, cockernuts, and monkey nuts; the last of these is often used to mean the entire pod.
Q: Will you take that weird looking cartoon airplane out of the opening "smoke stack" scene? It looks dumb.
A: Sure. Thanks for

The Living Edens: Kamchatka
Directed, produced, written and edited by Kim MacQuarrie. "Kamchatka: Siberia's Forbidden Wilderness" is an Emmy-winning natural history film that follows the lives of a family of Grizzly Bears (a mother and three spring cubs) as they make a living on Russia's most remote Siberan outpost: the Kamchatka Peninsula in the far east of Russian Siberia. Part of the "Ring of Fire," the Kamchatka Peninsula has more than 300 volcanoes, twenty nine of which are active. It also has a high concentration of spectacular wildlife, including Grizzly Bears, Steller's Sea Eagles, Snow Sheep, Arctic Foxes an millions of Sockeye Salmon. Off of nearby Bering Island, 500-lb Northern Fur Seals dive to depths of 600 feet and gather on giant, deafening rookeries where males fight it out for territories and access to females. Tufted Puffins nest in the millions while Arctic Foxes patrol the seal rookeries, looking for unwary seal pups. Likened to Alaska as Alaska was one hundred years ago, Kamchatka hosts some of the most spectacular wildlife displays on Earth and is truly a Siberian Eden.
