Meet the Tiger

Meet the Tiger is the title of an action-adventure novel written by Leslie Charteris. In England it was first published by Ward Lock in September 1928; in the United States it was first published by Doubleday's The Crime Club imprint in March 1929 with the variant title Meet – the Tiger!. It was the first novel in a long-running series of books (lasting into the 1980s) featuring the adventures of Simon Templar, alias "The Saint". It was later reissued under a number of different titles, including the unofficial Crooked Gold by Amalgamated Press in 1929 which failed to credit the authorship of Charteris, and the best-known reissue title, The Saint Meets the Tiger. In 1940 the Sun Dial Press changed the title to Meet – the Tiger! The Saint in Danger.

Templar is introduced as a young adventurer 27 years of age, who is independently wealthy and accompanied by a manservant named Orace. Templar and Orace stay in a pillbox that Simon has purchased from the Ministry of Defence in the small North Devon seaside town of Baycombe, their intent to foil a plan by a mysterious individual known only as "The Tiger" to smuggle stolen gold. Templar's motivation is to settle an old score with The Tiger, with whom he has had prior dealings though he's never actually met the villain, and to return the gold to its proper owner and collect the reward.

Meet the Beatles! is the second Beatles album released in the United States. It was the first US Beatles album to be issued by Capitol Records, on 20 January 1964 in both mono and stereo formats. It topped the popular album chart on 15 February 1964 and remained at number one for eleven weeks before being replaced by The Beatles' Second Album. The cover featured Robert Freeman's portrait used in the United Kingdom for With the Beatles, with a blue tint added to the original stark black-and-white photograph.

Background

After constantly rejecting requests by both Brian Epstein and George Martin to release Beatles records in the United States, in November 1963 EMI label head Sir Joseph Lockwood sent a deputy to Los Angeles ordering Capitol Records to commence releasing and promoting Beatles product in the United States. Despite the "first album" claim on its cover, ten days prior to its release Vee-Jay Records of Chicago beat Capitol to the punch with the release of the Beatles' American debut album Introducing... The Beatles, which had been delayed for release for various reasons since the previous summer. Perhaps as a result of the Vee-Jay release, Liberty Music Shops advertised in the New York Times of 12 January 1964 that Meet the Beatles! was available for purchase, an ad not authorised by Capitol.

The Tiger is a 2005 Malayalam thriller film. Directed by Shaji Kailas and starring Suresh Gopi, Siddique, Saikumar and Rajan P. Dev in the lead roles, this film hugely got positive response at box office. The movie was the 4th biggest grosser of that year after Rajamanikyam, Bharathchandran I.P.S. and Naran.

The Tiger (newspaper)

The Tiger is the student newspaper at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. It was first produced on January 21, 1907, and as of 2015 is publishing Volume 109. It is the oldest student newspaper in the state of South Carolina and publishes twice a week during both the fall and spring semesters, with occasional summer editions. It is rumored to occasionally publish "Buzzard" editions on or about March 15 in homage to Buzzard Day[1] in Hinckley Ohio. Of course it typically falls a little closer to April 1, and is full of "tabloid" type and expose' stories.

In August of 2014, The Tiger started publishing twice weekly, on Tuesday and Thursday. One year later, in August of 2015, the paper began publishing on Monday and Thursday.
