This show was from the very last day of WRKR - Racine Milwaukee Saturday March 14th, 1987. On Sunday Morning March 15, 1987 the sign on would be WHBT Racine - Milwaukee. It was a fairly well kept secret. However, the FCC issued the new call letters a few days before the official format change and we already replaced the long time Milwaukee phone number 799-1075 with 799-1101 (Heartbeat 101) and the even longer Parkside - Racine phone number 552-7474 with 552-9428 / 552-WHBT. The WRKR calls were held on AM 1460 for awhile. When the calls were released they went up the dial 7 megahertz to Portage Michigan on 107.7
This was the sound of WRKR in December 1983. This composite was usually transfered to a cassette tape and given to prospective advertising clients and agency buyers to get the feel of the station. Thanks Pat Martin for the correction.
American Top- 40 With Casey Kasem was a long time staple on WRKR 100.7. The longest run was Sunday's 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM followed by Dr. Demento from 10:00 PM to Midnight. I believe during it's run the schedule time had changed to Saturday's then back to Sunday's Noon to 4:00 PM in the early 80's. I beleive it was once again changed back to Sunday evenings before disappearing from the station. This is a scoped version of the countdown from Sunday December 19 1976 songs # 9 to # 1. The local WRKR spots are not scoped to add to the history of this aircheck. This recording was made using a microphone, recording from the radio, so the audio is so-so.
Here is rare video from the WRKR FM studios when they were still at 2200 N. Green Bay Road, Racine. March 1981. This video was shot as part of a visual for a High School career day. Bucky Albright interviews WRKR's Dave Marks.
Is that Stanley J. Wallace doing a Chesters Electronics spot?
The Dick 'N Doug Show, otherwise known as Dick Sainte and Doug Dahlgren, made a three week stop at WRKR-AM/FM (100.7 FM / 1460 AM) in Racine, Wisconsin, ending on June 8th,1979. Any of you midwest radio geeks knew that these two would travel the United States and do these promotional "fill in" air shifts, usually to promote an upcoming big event at those particular radio stations, and as you also probably knew, always ended up being "physically" thrown out of those same stations, on the air live, for breaking the rules, breaking format, etc., as part of an attention grabbing stunt for those same radio stations. As luck would have it, we suspected they would be doing the same type of stunt on WRKR on the last day of their three week stunt, so we had tape rolling for this classic show! Th...
Kya Hai Tum Jaano Na, Jaano Toh Maano Na Yeh Hamaari Batiya
Hamase Hai Saari Duniya
Hamase Hota Hai Din, Dekho Hamaare Bin Hoti Na Yeh Ratiya
Hamase Hai Saari Duniya, Maano Na Maano Rasiya
Girls Rock The World, Now And Forever, Girls Rock The World
Girls Girls Girls, We Have The Power, Girls Rock The World
Yeh Na Socho Bin Tumhaare Ji Sakenge Nahi
Hamako Mil Jaayenge Tumse Jyaada Laakhon Haseen
Par Hamaare Dil Mein Aisi Koyi Hasrat Nahi
Ham Woh Kaliya Jo Jinako Daali Ki Jarurat Nahi
(Tumane Socha Royenge, Jab Hum Tumako Khoyenge
Na Re Na Re Bhaiya, Hum Toh Manaaye Khushiya) 2
Maano Na Maano Rasiya
Girls Rock The World, Now And Forever, Girls Rock The World
Girls Girls Girls, We Have The Power, Girls Rock The World
Hamase Roshan Yeh Jahaan Hai, Hamase Mehake Hawa
Leke Aaye Hum Bahaane Khilati Hai Yeh Fiza
Roop Hamaare Mein Woh Jaadu Ho Jaaye Yuun Nasha
Inn Adaao Mein Hai Milati Jine Ki Har Wajah

Sun Ke Baat Badhiya, Maan Gaye Na Saiyaan) 2
