Ottoman Empire - The War Machine (Documentary)
Please Enjoy. Subscribe & Like too. Thanks. Cheers! This History Channel documentary traces the Ottoman Empire from its beginnings in the 14th century to its incarnation as one of the largest empires in history, spanning three continents. Ottoman Empire: The War Machine is a documentary on the six century reign of the Ottoman Empire. It was originally scheduled to air on June 22, 2006 but was pulled from the schedule at the last minute. Some speculated that it caved to political pressure because of controversial World War I events depicted in the documentary. This allegation was denied by The History Channel who claimed the series wasn't yet complete. A little over two months later it premiered on August 26, 2006. "Rageh Omaar, who has reported from across this former empire, sets out to discover why the Ottomans have vanished from our understanding of the history of Europe. Why so few realise the importance of Ottoman history in today's Middle East. And why you have to know the Ottoman story to understand the roots of many of today's trouble spots from Palestine, Iraq and Israel to Libya, Syria, Egypt, Bosnia and Kosovo."- published: 12 Dec 2013

‘YEKPARE’ (monolithic)
"Yekpare" is a storyteller which narrates the 8500 year story of Istanbul. The story embraces symbols from Pagans to Roman Empire, from Byzantine Empire to Latin Empire, and finally from Ottoman Empire to Istanbul at the present day.
Haydarpaşa Train Station, with its brilliant architectural forms, is the building on which the story is projected. The connection between middle east to west has been provided by Istanbul and Haydarpaşa since 1906. In the 50’s it served as a door for millions of internal emigrants who have triggered the chaos in Istanbul's dialectical daily life scenes. The project's conceptual, political and geographical positioning, the location’s depth of field and the fact that the entire show can be watched from Kadıköy coast; make "Yekpare" a dramatic presentation.
The first day of the performance also marks the 47th deathday of Nazım Hikmet Ran, the famous Turkish poet. We started out with a quote from his epic novel, "Human Landscapes from My Country": “At Haydarpaşa Train Station, in the spring of 1941, it is three o’clock. Sun, exhaustion and rush lay on the stairs...”

When a man's battles have been won and his enemies destroyed what then? Where does he find purpose and meaning? To find answers to these questions, Ezio Auditore will travel east in search of the lost library of the Assassins. In Assassin's Creed Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of the legendary mentor Altair, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path -- one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.

Istanbul
This pilot film is inspired by a dream of the 17th century Ottoman Evliya Celebi, whose hunger for spiritual nourishment led him on a lifelong journey across the Ottoman Empire and beyond.
Travel may be considered a form of acquiring knowledge as well as an expression of spirituality, for example on a pilgrimage the unknown and ineffable are pursued with devotion. During the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, science and religion flourished together; the quests for truth and knowledge of the world were pursued on their own terms - often attained through observation of the patterns and laws of nature. Unlike our more secular times in the West, the relationship between learning and faith was strongly entwined. Hence Byzantine and Ottoman architecture expressed humanity’s desire to connect with and understand the universe.
In this film, Chan explores the typology of religious spaces in Istanbul, from the Privy Chamber in the Topkapi Palace Museum, where sacred relics are kept, to the Hagia Sofia, a Byzantine church that became a mosque in the Ottoman Empire and is now a museum. Filmed with timelapse photography on a motion control rig, light is captured moving across Iznik tiles. Domed ceilings spin, mimicking the movement of radio telescopes that observe our cosmos.
