Cossack show (Zaporizhia - Ukraine)
Cossacks (Ukrainian: Козаки́, Kozaki; Russian: Каза́ки́, Kazaki; Polish: Kozacy) were members of militaristic communities living in Ukraine and southern Russia. Towards the end of the 15th century, Zaporozhian Cossacks had established a Cossack host in the steppe of Ukraine around the Dniper River. In the 16th century, the Don Cossacks established another host in the Don River basin. The Dniper Cossacks of Ukraine formed the Zaporozhian Sich. Initially a vassal of Poland-Lithuania, the increasing social and religious pressure from the Commonwealth caused them to proclaim an independent Cossack Hetmanate, initiating by a rebellion under Bohdan Khmelnytsky in the mid-17th century. Afterwards, with the Treaty of Pereyaslavl with Russia signalled the start of the Commonwealth's decline but also brought most of Ukraine under Russian control for the next three hundred years.[1] The Don Cossack Host, allied with the Tsardom of Russia, began a systematic conquest and colonisation of lands to secure her borders on the Volga, the whole of Siberia, the Ural and the Terek Rivers. In the 18th century the Russian Empire's expansionist ambitions relied on ensuring the loyalty of Cossacks, which caused tension with their traditional independent lifestyle. This resulted in rebellions led by Stenka Razin, Kondraty Bulavin and Yemelyan Pugachev. In extreme cases whole Hosts could be dissolved, as was the fate of the Zaporozhian Sich in 1775. By the end of the 18th century, Cossacks were ...

YTP - Morshu the Cossack
Alternate titles -- "Taras Morshu," "The Morshacks" After learning that the vast fields of Ukraine are being plundered to make a gigantic dinner for the Polish governor, Pan Harkinsky (Played by King Harkinian), Taras Morshu (Morshu) leads his host (the Morshacks) to assault Harkinsky's fortress. He ultimately kills his son Ostap (Link) for passing over to the Polish side in exchange for rubies. The movie was a disaster to produce, as the director, Johnny Harkinson, spent nearly all the production money on gulasz and didn't have enough to pay the actors. As Morshu, the main star, told him, "sorry director, I can't GIVE credit!". Furthermore, several stuntmen were burned by the lamp oil and destroyed by bombs, so the movie never finished production -- the only footage ever to be released was this trailer. (h/t DonLocoUnPoco for his excellent Russian fandub of Morshu!)

UEFA EURO 2012 - the stadia and host cities autumn 2011. Feel welcome!
Animations and videos presenting the stadia and host cities of EURO 2012 soon before the tournament. Almost everything is ready (and roads aren't everything I hope:) The videos and music I used for this video aren't mine. Most of them can be found on youtube by searching for the name of the respective city or stadium. I don't gain any profit from putting it here.

Nad Synom Donom (The Sons of the Don) Red Army Chorus
The Red Army Chorus sings "Nad Synom Donom" (The Sons of the Don), matched with paintings of Cossacks by Ilya Repin and Vasili Surikov. There are some Ukrainian nationalists who say that Cossacks were all Ukrainians and anti-Russian. This is not so. Most Cossacks spoke Russian, and lived in the outlying parts of the Empire. I know this because I am a proud daughter of the Siberian Host. This video is my tribute to my forebears.

The lock and the visit of Zaporizhia / Запоріжжя (Ukraine)
Zaporizhia (Ukrainian: Запоріжжя, translit. Zaporizhzhia, Russian: Запорожье, translit. Zaporozh'ye) is a city in south-central Ukraine, which rests on the banks of the Dnieper River. It is the administrative center of the Zaporizhia Oblast (province), as well as the administrative center of the surrounding Zaporizkyi Raion (district) within the oblast. The city itself is directly subordinate to the oblast, and is located approximately 70 km (43 mi) south of the city of Dnipropetrovsk. Zaporizhia was formerly referred to as Aleksandrovsk (Russian: Александровск), after the commander of the first Russian Army, Prince Alexander Golitsyn, but was renamed in 1921 to Zaporizhia (literally, "after the rapids", referring to the Dnieper rapids near Khortytsia) island. It is currently the sixth largest city in Ukraine and has a current estimated population of 790000 (as of 2007). Zaporizhia is an important industrial center of Ukraine, particularly a home for the hydroelectric power plant known as "DnieproGES," the ZAZ, the country's main car manufacturing company, and the Motor-Sich design-bureau and production company, the world-famous aircraft engine manufacturer. The city was very much an 'engineering city' during Soviet times, with all the consequences in terms of pollution that might be expected. The move to a market economy since the independence of Ukraine has seen the demise of some of these concerns. This has improved the air quality. Although Zaporizhia is not regarded ...

LUDMYLA ARTEMENKO (ensemble "VODOHRAY"): OTAMAN - cossack leader. Song about legendary Ukrainian cossack otaman Ivan Sirko (1610-1680). ОТАМАN (Ukrainian: отаман - a word of Turkic origin) was a title of a leader among Cossacks, haidamaks, and in the Ukrainian Army meaning the commander. The title takes its roots from the military doctrine of the Zaporizhia Host. Otomans were usually elected by the Host Council or could have been appointed, especially during the military campaigns. On the basis of his unit was formed three main groups of army Vsevel Data from Wikipedia: The original version of the song was created in 1853 [1], in connection with the beginning of the Crimean War of 1853-56. After more than half a century, May 4, 1918 at a meeting of the Grand Circle Host Grand Don Army, chaired by Ataman PN Krasnov were considered basic laws of Grand Don Army. As a result, his army took its anthem. September 20, 1918 in the text has been modified from the song disappeared mention of the king. During the Great Patriotic War, the song was the anthem of Don Cossack troops who fought on the side of Germany against the USSR. In 1996, three verse song was adopted as the official anthem of the Rostov region. White army of Russia farewell of slavianka
The song was composed in 1912, as Russia was awash in rumors about the impending new Balkan War, in which the Slavs would be pitted against the Ottoman Turks, and Orthodox Christianity against Islam. The melody gained popularity in Russia and adjoining countries during the World War I, when the Russian soldiers left their homes accompanied by this music. It was also used as an unofficial anthem of Admiral Kolchak's White Army. The word "Slavic" in the title of the march, which otherwise invokes only Russia, is a tribute as much to the pan-Slavist ideology of the preceding century as to its transformation into Russian nationalism on the eve of WWI.
