From House of Lords to Supreme Court
From 31 July 2009, the judicial function of the House of Lords and its role as the final - and highest - appeal court in the UK will end, bringing about a fundamental change to the work and role of the House of Lords. A new United Kingdom Supreme Court, separating the judicial function from Parliament (those who make the law from those who interpret it in courts), will open in early October 2009 opposite the Houses of Parliament in Parliament Square - formerly the Middlesex Guildhall. Lord Mance, one of the 12 Law Lords in the House of Lords, outlines the key changes to the judicial role of Parliament. Michael Martin joins the House of Lords
Former Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin has taken up his place as a peer in the House of Lords. Before taking his seat, Martin took the Oath of Allegiance: "I do swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God." Lord Martin of Springburn took his seat as the row over MPs' expenses, which was behind his resignation as Speaker, continued in the Commons next door. He was the first Commons speaker to be ousted in modern times. By convention they go to the Lords on retirement and sit as a non-partisan crossbencher.

Lord Lucas blasts ACS LAW and other "anti-piracy" lawyers for putting people into a situation of being faced with an alleged offence whilst not offering them the evidence to defend themselves. He goes on to say "These are not nice people to fall foul of"

"Anti Piracy" Law Firms labeled a Scam in the House of Lords
Lord Clement-Jones describes a continuing scam of a Law Firm that obtains a Norwich Pharmacal and then uses it to try to obtain money from an individual. I have to say it sounds so much like the ACS LAW model that I just have to assume he is talking about one and the same.

ACS LAW and Tilly Bailey Irvine "New entrants to the hall of infamy"
The Lords in this case Lord Clement-Jones launches a devastating attack on ACS:LAW and the newcommers Tilly Bailey Irvine, the so called Anti-Piracy Lawyers as being an utter disgrace, in reality they are NOT Anti Piracy Lawyers but money grubbing scamsters. It has surprised many that Tilly Bailey Irvine has become involved with such a disgusting practice as "Speculative Invoicing" as they have a long History and are not at all like ACS LAW.

House of Lords Reform
The House of Lords Reform Bill, which is currently before Parliament, is the latest of many attempts to reform the upper chamber of the UK Parliament. It is over a hundred years since the enactment of the Parliament Act 1911, which changed the balance of power between the Lords and the Commons, but which was intended only as a stopgap measure pending the transformation of the Lords into an elected chamber. In this video, Dr Mark Elliott assess the House of Lords Reform Bill, arguing that a commitment to democracy does not necessarily require an elected House of Lords -- and that the debate about reforming the upper chamber must take due account of the wider institutional and constitutional framework. Dr Mark Elliott is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St Catharine's College. His main research interests are in the fields of constitutional and administrative law. Dr Elliott's recent publications include Elliott and Thomas, Public Law (OUP 2011); Elliott, Beatson, Matthews and Elliott's Administrative Law: Text and Materials (OUP 2011, 4th edition); and Forsyth, Elliott, Jhaveri, Scully-Hill and Ramsden (eds), Effective Judicial Review: A Cornerstone of Good Governance (OUP 2010). Dr Elliott was the 2011 Legal Research Foundation Visiting Scholar at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. In 2010, he was awarded a University of Cambridge Pilkington Prize for excellence in University teaching. He writes a blog - applyingforlaw.org - for ...

ACS LAW accused of "Harassment bullying and intrusion"
This is worth a look. This could be the begining of the End for ACS LAW. TWO Lords speak out against them in this clip. I would urge you to watch it to the end and PLEASE comment and rate the Video. For all those accused by this "Law Firm" I would say have no fear. The two Lords describe ACS LAW as "harassing" and "bullying" and "intrusive" amongst many others. How those accused know only to well.

Spycatcher - Wright or Wrong? Part 1 of 6
www.ceepackaging.com http Facebook group : www.facebook.com Spycatcher was written by Peter Wright, former MI5 officer and co-author Paul Greengrass. The British Government attempted to ban it, ensuring its profit. Spycatcher details the author's work seeking to discover a Soviet mole in MI5, and that the said mole was Roger Hollis — a former MI5 Director General; it also describes people who might have or might not have been the mole; and renders a history of MI5 by chronicling its principal officers, from the 1930s to his time in service. Moreover, Spycatcher tells of the MI6 plot to assassinate President Nasser during the Suez Crisis; of joint MI5-CIA plotting against British Prime Minister Harold Wilson (secretly accused of being a KGB agent by the Soviet defector Anatoliy Golitsyn); and of MI5's eavesdropping on high-level Commonwealth conferences. In the afterword, he states that writing Spycatcher was motivated principally to recuperate pension income lost when the British government ruled his pension un-transferable for earlier work in GCHQ, a ruling that severely reduced his pension. Wright wrote Spycatcher upon retiring from MI5 and while residing in Tasmania. He first attempted publication in 1985. The British government immediately acted to ban Spycatcher in the UK. Since the ruling was obtained in an English court, however, the book continued to be available legally in Scotland, as well as overseas. It also attempted halting the book's Australian publication ...

UPDATE! www.guardian.co.uk Listen to Gary's mother interview on Coast to Coast AM radio program Sunday evening Jan 17, 2010. Update: ( technology.timesonline.co.uk ) From The Times October 17, 2009 Pentagon hacker wins a US extradition delay for psychiatric review Background: A Briton accused of hacking into Nasa and US military computer networks has spoken out about his experiences. (Gary McKinnon was arrested by the UK's national high-tech crime unit in 2002.) McKinnon earns Lords appeal Pentagon hacker in legal victory By John Leyden Published Tuesday 31st July 2007 10:30 GMT Gary McKinnon, the British hacker facing extradition over allegations he broke into US Military and NASA sites, has earned the right to take his case to the House of Lords. The law Lords agreed to hear arguments that US authorities acted in an "oppressive" and "arbitrary" manner during plea bargaining negotiations, for example by allegedly threatening McKinnon over the loss of rights to serve part of his sentence in the UK unless he submitted to voluntary extradition. The House of Lords was not bound to consider McKinnon's final appeal - for example it declined to hear the appeal of the NatWest Three bankers, so the Lords' decision is a significant fillip for McKinnon and his legal team.
