Basil "Buzz" Fazio (February 7, 1908 – February 15, 1993) nicknamed the "Buzzer" was a pioneer and early American bowling star during the mid-20th century.
Known equally for his fierce competitiveness and audience pleasing theatrics, Fazio’s professional career spanned from the early 1940s to the late 1960s.
The six-time ABC (American Bowling Congress) and two-time PBA (Professional Bowlers Association) champion began his career during bowling’s golden era of "Team" play.
Born in Aultman, Ohio, near Akron, Fazio was brought to Detroit in 1947 to join the fabled Stroh’s Beer bowling team. The diminutive Fazio, who stood but 5’ 6" and weighed near 140, captained Stroh’s for nine seasons and continued the team’s tradition for success started by his predecessor and fellow Hall-of-Famer Joe Norris.
During the 1950s, the Fazio led Stroh’s Beer squad, featuring Lee Jouglard, Tom Hennessy, Pete Carter, Tony Lindemann, and Ed Lubanski, captured numerous tournaments including the BPAA Team Championships in 1952, 1953 and 1954.
Championship Bowling (チャンピオンシップボーリング, Chanpionshippu Bōringu) is a bowling video game developed by Romstar in 1989 for the arcade and Nintendo Entertainment System. It was one of the few games that supported the Four Score accessory for the NES, allowing for four people to play.
The object of the game is the same as a regular game of bowling; score the highest to win. The game utilizes factors such as left or right-handedness, spin, power, and weight of the ball, which can affect the outcome of a throw.
Stephen Nagy (born May 28, 1919) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He played parts of two seasons in the majors, 1947 for the Pittsburgh Pirates and 1950 for the Washington Senators. Nagy also had a minor league career that included 14 seasons, from 1942 until 1958. He served in the Navy during World War II. He attended Seton Hall University. He is also the oldest living former member of the Minnesota Twins organization.
Glenn Richard Allison (born May 22, 1930) is an American professional ten-pin bowler and a founding member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). He was born in Whittier, California to Leo Allison, a car salesman, and Stella Bradford. He won 5 PBA titles and one Senior PBA title, and was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame (Veterans/Special Category) in 1984. He is also a member of the USBC Hall of Fame (inducted 1979), having won four titles in the ABC Tournament's Classic Division: he won in doubles in 1962, his "Eagles" team won in 1964 and 1966, and he claimed a singles title in 1970.
Allison is most known, however, for being the first American ten-pin bowler to roll a perfect 900 series (three perfect 300 games over a three-game series) in sanctioned competition. He rolled the series on July 1, 1982, but the then-American Bowling Congress (ABC) did not approve his award application, citing non-complying lane conditions. The decision sparked considerable controversy, as the ABC had sanctioned a 299 and 300 at that bowling center (La Habra Bowl in La Habra, CA) earlier in the season, and no other scores that night were unusually high — even on the pair of lanes on which Allison bowled. But the ABC (now USBC) has never relented and still has not officially recognized the score as of 2014.

The inimitable Buzz Fazio stands just one tenth frame away from becoming the oldest player ever to win the Masters when he faces Pete Tountas for the Masters title in 1968. Buzz had previously won the 1955 Masters in which he converted two 7-10 splits on the way to victory and, among many other feats, was the first bowler ever to shoot 300 in the finals of the All-Star tournament. "Buzz" was short for his real name of "Basil," though his Sicilian-born parents preferred to call him "Basilino." Since that sounded to most people like "Buzzilino" he became known as "Buzz" for most of his life.
