Guwahati, Feb. 18: Hosts Guwahati made it to the semi-finals of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter-District elite group Cricket Tournament by the virtue of a first-innings lead against Biswanath Chariali at Nehru Stadium here today.
Guwahati, resuming at an overnight score of 63 for no loss, went on to put up 188 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Rishav Das, who suffered an ankle injury on Monday, could not make it to the middle.
Overnight batsman Sunzow Brahma went on to topscore for his side with a knock of 77 runs off 101 deliveries, hitting 13 boundaries, while Pritam Debnath scored 33 runs off 55 balls, slamming six fours. Gokul Sharma was the other notable contributor with 29 runs off 46 deliveries, laced with five boundaries.
Rohit Prasad Roniyar and Siddhartha Sankar Baruah scalped three wickets each while Pawan Kr Majhee picked up two wickets going for 38 runs in 13 overs.
In reply to the Guwahati’s first innings total, Biswanath Chariali were bundled out for a paltry total of 50 runs in 20.4 overs. Bikash Kurmi with 10 runs off 40 balls was the lone batsman to reach the double figure mark. Yagvendra Singh was the wrecker-in-chief with six wickets for six runs in 7.4 overs while Gokul Sharma bagged two wickets, giving away 19 runs in three overs. Mantu Das and Sujay Tarafdar picked up one wicket each.
Coming to bat in the second innings, the hosts piled up 187 runs for the loss of five wickets before declaring their innings in 36.4 overs.
Prahlad Gayan scored 38 runs hitting six fours while Romario Sharma chipped in with quickfire 36 runs off 15 deliveries.
Sharma hammered for four fours and three sixes.
Opener Pritam Debnath and Abhijit Singha Roy chipped in with 34 (5x4) and 26 (3x4) respectively while Gokhul Sharma contributed 35 (4x4).
Dibash Hazarika scalped two wickets conceding 29 runs in 4.4 overs while Pavan Kumar Majhee, Rahul Kaushik and Rohit Prasad Roniyar picked up one wicket each.
