Czech Republic Outside of Prague
Czech Republic Outside of Prague
Prague has been on the radar a most travelers for many years now, and for good reason. Its bohemia meets fine culture and has artists, musicians, food, wine, and culture to match its reputation. However there is so much more to the Czech Republic than the crowd-drawing major cities. Outside of the cities you can find a more authentic Czech experience. There are historic villages, small family owned wineries, and several festivals that bring together the culture, food and drinks of the region. So if you are looking to escape the crowds and the cities, venture out to some of these lesser known, but equally has fantastic, town in the Czech Republic. Moravia region This region in the Czech Republic seems like a land that has sprung up straight out of a fairytale. The rolling, flower-covered hills, the vineyards and the ancient villages with their story book castles will force you to stop and admire the glory of this place. The villages are steeped in history where you can find fascinating folklore traditions that span back generations. There are several historical monument, castles and villages you can choose from or see them all! Mikulov is a fairytale town set in the heart of rolling vineyard countryside. The town is near the magnificent Palava nature reserve and is one of the best places to sip incredible wines without having to pay extreme prices like you might in some of the more famous wine-growing regions of the world. Here you can tour the Mikulov castle and chateau, sample wine in historic cellars or quaint cafes. There is a museum dedicated to the local history as well. It's a charming and very romantic village in the southern Moravia region. Olomouc is probably one of the best towns outside of Prague to visit. This city is so charming and beautiful, you won't regret one moment spent in this historical city. The main monument here is the Holy Trinity Column located in the city's central square. The Hall Tower will give you panoramic views of the city and surrounding hillsides. There is a wealth of medieval streets and buildings. The best thing about this city though is the wealth of stories surrounding it including the ancient kings and princes of the kingdom of Bohemia at the Olomouc Castle or Archbishop's Palace. It also had a fantastic nightlife and in the warmer months you can enjoy beer and wine festivals. Sample local wine and their famous cheeses as well. Rejviz is a small mountain village with the beauty of nature all around it. This village has great charm and history and even famous ghostly legends. The town has old half timbered houses surrounded by forests and meadows and is one of the most picturesque places to visit. You can have a famous custom made wooden chair carved just for you or taking a superb hiking or cycling tour of the natural preserve nearby. Great Moss Lake is an ancient body of water who thick layer of Moss gives the Lake its name. Here is where you will find the legends of the phantom ghost who wanders the misty bogs grabbing those they may stray from the pathways. Rejviz is set in the lovely Jeseniky Mountains. You can explore winding karst cave systems, several waterfalls and romantic towns along with Rejviz. Winter brings great opportunities for skiing in a place where the crowds are much less than in the larger resorts in other parts of Europe. You can also find fantastic spas, restaurants, and golf resorts. Karlovy Vary In the northwest border of the Czech Republic is Karlovy Vary, a true jewel of the region. One of the best things to enjoy here is the elegant spas in what is known as the West Bohemian Spa Triangle, including beer and wine spas. Here you can immerse yourself in hot baths while sipping some of the regions best refreshments. It is a very artistic and cultural area with a unique character. The town has 13 hot mineral spas that not only have relaxing but healing properties. There is a wealth of hotels to suit every budget as well. The Grand Hotel Pupp is considered one of the best in the world. Another unique hotel is the Hotel Thermal with hot springs and a massive outdoor pool that gives you a panoramic view of the entire town. The town is perfect for a romantic stroll and the surrounding forest covered mountains are breathtaking. The food and wine here are a perfect treat any time of the day as well. These are just a few of the splendid treasures that the Czech Republic has to offer. While Prague and Bohemia should not be missed, consider taking a train to one of these one of a kind and unique villages in scenic beauty the this storied land. http://EzineArticles.com/8289973- published: 02 Feb 2014

Let's Play Europa Universalis IV - Bohemia - Part 42
Having analysed world politics we cry havoc and let slip our dogs of war in our first real post-Alzbetan war against Brandenburg. As war rages around us our holy men unify religious life in Bohemia finally finishing our ancient mission to do so. In the end Brandenburg and it's allies stood no chance against the bohemian juggernaut and we now turn our attention elsewhere.- published: 27 Dec 2013

Queen of Sheba מלכת שבא
Queen of Sheba מלכת שבא
The Queen of Sheba (Hebrew: מלכת שבא, Malkaṯ Šəḇâ in Biblical Hebrew; Malkat Sh'va in Modern Hebrew; Ge'ez: ንግሥተ ሳባ, Nigiste Saba (Nəgəstä Saba); Arabic: ملكة سبأ, Malikat Sabaʾ) was a monarch of the ancient kingdom of Sheba and is referred to in Yemeni and Ethiopian history, the Bible, the Qur'an, Yoruba customary tradition, and Josephus. She is widely assumed to have been a queen regnant, but, since there is no historical proof of this, she may have been a queen consort.[1] The location of her kingdom is believed to have been in Ethiopia [2] and Yemen. The queen of Sheba has been called a variety of names by different peoples in different times. To King Solomon of Israel she was the Queen of Sheba. In Islamic tradition she was called Bilqis or Balqis by the Arabs, who say she came from the city of Sheba, also called Mareb, in Yemen or Arabia Felix. The Roman historian Josephus calls her Nicaule. The Luhya of Kenya call her Nakuti while the Ethiopian people claim her as Makeda or Maqueda. She is said to have been born some time in the 10th century BC. Traditionally her lineage was part of the Ethiopian dynasty established in 1370 BC by Za Besi Angabo, which lasted 350 years; her grandfather and father were the last two rulers of this dynasty.[citation needed] According to the Kebra Negast her mother was known as Queen Ismeni and in 1005 BC, Makeda's father appointed her as his successor from his deathbed. [3] To the early ancient Greeks, Ethiopia referred to an empire that encompassed a vast territory, extending to Arabia, Syria, Armenia and the territory between the Mediterranean, the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf. This is the empire that the Queen of Sheba was said to have reigned over. In the Ethiopian Book of Aksum, she is described as establishing a new capital city at Azeba, while the Kebra Negast refers to her building a capital at Debra Makeda, or "Mount Makeda". The Yemenite kingdom of Himyar refers to her in its histories as well.[citation needed] In the Hebrew Bible, a tradition of the history of nations is preserved in Genesis 10. In Genesis 10:7 there is a reference to Sheba, the son of Raamah, the son of Cush, the son of Ham, son of Noah. In Genesis 10:26-29 there is a reference to another person named Sheba, listed along with Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Ophir, Havilah and Jobab as the descendants of Joktan, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah, the son of Arphaxad, the descendant of Shem, another son of Noah. Aharoni, Avi-Yonah, Rainey and Safrai placed the Semitic Sheba in Southern Arabia in geographic proximity to the location of the tribes descended from their ancestor, Joktan. In addition to Sheba, Hazarmaveth and Ophir were identified. Semitic Havilah was located in Eastern Africa, modern day Ethiopia. Semitic Havilah (Beresh't 10:29) is to be distinguished from Cushite Havilah (Beresh't 10:7), the descendant of Cush, descendant of Ham; both locations for Havilah are thought by these scholars to have been located in present day Ethiopia.[4]- published: 12 Nov 2013
