"Zoomagio" This is my submission to Vimeo's "Weekend Project Group" for their "infinite zoom" collection due on November 9th, 2010. I immensely enjoyed making this video and the music as it presented challenges not only because of the time constraints but also because of the vision I was seeking--it totally made me think on my feet. Thank you for the opportunity. (Technical) I reviewed several shots from my personal raw clips of HD and SD shots over the last 2 years and choose four clips that I believed would work together well. All but the last clip were shot with my Sony HDR-CX500v camcorder near my home in California. The final shot was done about two years ago with a Nikon pocket camera S52c using the VGA (SD) mode. This was taken aboard a Chicago Metro Train as it approached Union Station. "Zoomagio" was edited entirely with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 while the music tracks were created with a Yamaha S08 synthesizer and recorded directly to Audacity (sound recording and editing software). I spent about 3 hours editing the picture and another 3 hours composing and editing the music and sound. I used the digital zoom (100x) on the Sony camcorder to get the moon shots with a very steady tripod. The train shots were zoomed by using key framing in the video editor. The double moon shot was done using the mirror effect in the Vegas editor. The train door opening to black was a bit of a moving mask kludge with a combination of using a mask generator and key frame. I generally don't like to kludge so this is a personal motivation to get my hands on Sony Vegas Pro and jump on that learning curve soon.
