Operation Silent Night unincorporated El Cajon - San Diego County Sheriff's Department
Ten people are in custody following a probation compliance check in the unincorporated area of El Cajon. Operation Silent Night was conducted at the Terraza Hills apartment complex at 425 East Bradley Avenue from 6:45 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. 15 apartment units were contacted this morning to ensure the probationers were complying with the conditions of their release. Eight adults and two juveniles were arrested on outstanding warrants and charges of possessing drugs, drug pa...raphernalia, a loaded weapon and child endangerment. The area of East Bradley Avenue had an increase in crime activity which includes burglaries, a robbery and two shootings. Our goal is to address these issues to help the citizens of our community feel safe and to enjoy the quality of life in their neighborhoods. People who live in the apartment complex were grateful for the law enforcement operation and presence. The following state and federal law enforcement agencies assisted in the operation, Deputies/Detectives from the Santee, Lemon Grove, Imperial Beach and Alpine Sheriff's Stations, as well as the East County Regional Gang Task Force, Sheriff's Border Crime Suppression Team, Sheriff's Analysis Driven Law Enforcement (S.A.D.L.E) Team, El Cajon Police Department, La Mesa Police Department, Chula Vista Police Department, Probation, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Marshals, D.E.C. Marina Del Rey
Introducing The Marina Del Rey collection by Warriors of Radness.
This is a small capsule collection influenced by the titillating ostentatious tenacity and affluent lifestyle associated with the largest small craft harbor in the world: Marina Del Rey, located in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles, California.
For the premiere of this collection Jack Coleman’s put together a little 8mm film with our main man and undercover gigolo Kyle Robbins aka “Cairo”. After a hyper adrenaline morning of whipping and whapping lefts and rights (mostly rights) on a 5’10” INT soft top fish, Cairo breezes over to the Marina for late breakfast Mimosas and soft boiled eggs at Jer-ne in the Ritz Carlton. You see the Jer-ne is like his office. The afternoon is spent making business calls, nurturing connections, and planning his schedule for a frolic fun evening with the clientele, all expenses paid. Perhaps a Rolex thrown in for a job well done? Touché Cairo, Touché!
Cairo can be seen wearing the latest from the Marina Del Rey collection. Cuffed shorts and cargo muscle pants in cotton linens, breezy fine weight cotton t shirts and tank tops, linen pullovers for when the wind turns onshore, striped cotton shorts, and nylon easy to wear trunks.

Las Vegas is the most populous city in Nevada, United States, the seat of Clark County, and an internationally renowned major resort city for gambling, shopping, and fine dining. Las Vegas, which bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, is famous for its casino resorts and associated entertainment. A growing retirement and family city, it is the 28th-most populous city in the United States, with an estimated population by the U.S. Census Bureau of 583,756 as of 2010. The 2010 population estimate of the Las Vegas metropolitan area was 1,951,269.
Established in 1905, Las Vegas officially became a city in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, Las Vegas was the most populous American city founded in that century (a distinction held by Chicago in the 19th century). The city's tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and this image has made Las Vegas a popular setting for films and television programs. There are numerous outdoor lighting displays on Fremont Street, as well as elsewhere in the city.
The name Las Vegas is often applied to unincorporated areas that surround the city, especially the resort areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip. The 4.2 mi (6.8 km) stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard known as the Strip is mainly in the unincorporated communities of Paradise, Winchester, and Enterprise.
When The Mirage opened in 1989, it started a trend of major resort development of the southern portion of the Las Vegas Strip outside of the city. This resulted in a drop in tourism in the downtown area, but many recent projects and condominium construction have increased the number of visitors to downtown.
An effort has been made by city officials to diversify the economy by attracting light manufacturing, banking, and other commercial interests. The lack of state individual and corporate income tax and very simple incorporation requirements have fostered the success of this effort.
With the Strip expansion in the 1990s, Downtown Las Vegas (which has maintained an old Las Vegas feel) began to suffer. The city made an effort to turn around the fortunes of downtown. The city successfully lured the Internal Revenue Service operations from western side of the city to a new downtown area building that opened in April 2005. The IRS move was expected to create a greater demand for additional businesses in the area, especially in the daytime hours. The Fremont Street Experience (FSE) was built in an effort to draw tourists back to the area, and has been popular. Since the recession began in 2008, many of these shops have closed. The multi-level Neonopolis closed their 11 theaters and nearly all retail stores. Many high-rise condo projects have been under construction, but one of the highest profile buildings, The Streamline Towers, went into bankruptcy.
The city purchased 61 acres (25 ha) of property from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1995 with the goal of creating something to draw more people to the downtown area. In 2004 Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman announced plans for Symphony Park, which will include residential and office high-rises, the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, an academic medical center, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, and a new City Hall. After failed negotiations with The Related Co. on the development of Union Park in October 2005, San Diego-based Newland Communities was chosen by the city as the new development firm. The Newland contract calls for Dan Van Epp, Newland's regional vice president and former president of The Howard Hughes Corporation, to oversee his company's work on Symphony Park. The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute was completed in 2009.
In 2004 the city partnered with Cheetah Wireless Technologies and MeshNetwork to pilot a wide-area mobile broadband system. The pilot system is installed downtown, around the Fremont Street Experience. On a lot adjacent to the city's 61 acre site, the World Market Center opened in 2005. It was intended as a preeminent furniture wholesale showroom and marketplace to compete with the current furniture market capital of High Point, North Carolina.
On October 23, 2006, plans were unveiled to build a World Jewelry Center in Symphony Park. Similar to the World Market Center, the WJC will be a one stop shop for jewelry trade shows from around the world. The project proposes a 57-story, 815 ft (248 m) office tower. As of 2009 the project was still on hold.
Las Vegas decided to build a new city hall in the late 2000s. This had several consequences. One being that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, which shared city hall, would have to find a new location. The second being that the old building would be vacated with the potential negative impact on the downtown area. The police department elected to build a headquarters building in another part of the city and co

Montauk
Montauk is located on the extreme Eastern tip of Long Island, NY. It is an unincorporated village in the town of East Hampton. It is a tourist destination, but it is not overrun with development. It is still an active fishing village, both commercial and sport fishing, and claims to have more saltwater fishing records than anywhere else in the world. Montauk derives its name from the Montaukett Indians, an Algonquin speaking tribe who once lived there.
The very tip of the peninsula is Montauk Point bordered on the Southwest by the Atlantic Ocean and the Northeast by Block Island Sound. The Point lines up at just about the border between Connecticut and Rhode Island. To me it is more New England than New York.
Other bodies of water on the Sound side include Fort Pond Bay and Napeague Harbor. Within Montauk are several lakes, ponds and marshes including Lake Montauk, a 900 acre lake that was fresh water until 1927 when a hole was blasted in the northern shoreline to connect it to the Sound. It is now home to many marinas and the largest commercial and sporting fish fleets in the state of New York. Other bodies of water include Fort Pond, Oyster Pond, Big Reed Pond and Money Pond.
A famous Montauk shark fisherman named Frank Mundus is putatively the basis of the character Quint in Jaws.
A significant portion of the land is set aside as protected state and county parks. Local zoning laws forbid chain stores, so there are no Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, CVS or strip malls. All of the businesses are independently owned, mostly be people who live there at least part of the year. This is one reason I love it. The development is sparse enough that wildlife thrives in the area and there is great beauty in the topography.
The Montauk Point Lighthouse is the fourth oldest active lighthouse in the US, authorized by the Second US Congress under President George Washington in 1792 and completed in 1796.
During World War II Camp Hero was established to help protect US shores from German U-Boats. It is now a state park, but the radar remains. A series of novels began being published in the 90s called the Montauk Project. Though it was fiction, many have taken the project to be true: an outgrowth of the Philadelphia Experiment where the government researched psychological warfare, psychic powers and time travel. It was even an episode of the X-files. Conspiracy theorists claim Nikola Tesla was chief of operations and that his death was faked. Some believe the AIDS virus was created there and that there is a hole to the core of the earth somewhere in the area. I have hiked that area many times; evidence of these evil doings is cleverly disguised.
In 2008 a new round of conspiracy theories was launched when an unidentified life form washed ashore in Montauk now known as the Montauk Monster. Is it a racoon? Or an alien life form from Project Montauk?
Montauk was also featured prominently in the film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".
While I don't buy into the conspiracy theories, they add to the charm of Montauk. It has its mysteries to be sure. At night it is extremely dark. There are no major cities for many miles so there is no ambient light. On moonless nights I have seen the Milky Way reflected in the ocean, quite brightly. You pass through sound vortexes of crickets and frogs and fowl mixed with the sounds of the ocean. It is beautiful and even sometimes spooky. Sometimes at night you can see ocean liners on the horizon passing, all lit up for parties for the last night before docking in New York City.
The Rolling Stones song "Memory Motel" gets its title from a motel of the same name in Montauk near Andy Warhol's estate where Jagger and Richards once stayed. Other famous Montauk residents have included Dick Cavett, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Edward Albee, Robert DeNiro, Ralph Lauren, Richard Avedon, Bernie Madoff and Julian Schnabel.
There is an active surfing community in Montauk, some of whom are included in this video.
I shot the footage in this compilation in September 2009 and May 2010. The music is by Jason Shaw, (http://www.audionautix.com)

Miami Dade MPO 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan
Miami Dade MPO 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan
Plan Process With a population of more than 2.4 million, Miami-Dade County is the most populous county in Florida and among the top 20 most populous metropolitan areas in the United States. By the year 2035, the region's population is expected to climb to approximately 3.2 million, while the number of households grows 40.7 percent, from the current 0.83 million to 1.2 million. In addition, the number of jobs in the county will increase from 1.3 million to over 1.9 million. Miami-Dade County is almost 2,300 square miles in area and encompasses thirty-one municipalities and the unincorporated area. The City of Miami is the County's most populous municipality, with a population of more than 415,000 inhabitants. There are 6 municipalities with populations over 50,000 and they are the City of Hialeah, City of Homestead. City of Miami, City of Miami Beach, City of Miami Gardens, and City of North Miami. The update of the Miami-Dade County Long Range Transportation Plan to the Year 2040 is a primary activity in Miami-Dade County's transportation planning process to meet federal and state requirements for an update of the Transportation Plan every five years. Federal law requires that the LRTP address minimum of a 20-year planning horizon from the date of the MPO adoption. The last LRTP update, the 2035 LRTP, was approved by the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Governing Board in October 2009. The 2040 plan update includes in-depth consideration of intermodal improvement opportunities, freight movement, Intelligent Transportation System technologies, and Congestion Management. A major emphasis of the 2040 LRTP is the inclusion of projects that improve the operation of the existing system. This emphasis on increasing the efficiency of the current infrastructure, in light of soaring construction costs, is embodied in the Congestion Management Process, adopted concurrently and incorporated into the LRTP. Congestion management includes the implementation of strategies designed to reduce vehicle trips; shift trips from single-occupancy vehicles to high-occupancy vehicles; and maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the existing transportation system. Other emphases of this plan update involve the utilization of quantitative metrics to measure the effectiveness of the plan in terms of its impact on mobility, safety, sustainability, and operational considerations; the consideration of non-motorized modes of transportation; and freight transportation improvements. The inclusion of non-motorized improvements in the plan promote quality of life issues for the County's residents and visitors and include sidewalk improvements, and pedestrian and bicycle trail improvements. The plan's dedicated section for freight transportation improvements is a critical component of the plan, providing for improvements to the County's economic engine to support the economic growth and prosperity of the County. USA HELL FREEZES OVER (Record cold freezes Hell, Michigan)
USA HELL FREEZES OVER (Record cold freezes Hell, Michigan)
The United States has seen temperatures plummet well below freezing that even Hell froze over Tuesday. (January 7). Hell, an unincorporated area in Michigan, saw frigid temperatures drop to -4 degrees Farenheit (-20 degrees Celsius). The small town of 600 had to deal with deep snow that left many vehicles stranded. Resident Jim Hilliar said the snow was so disruptive that even those looking to help got stuck. "Neighbor was kind of stuck up there, she called the snowplow last night and the snowplow got stuck," Hilliar said. The storm in Hell is part of the blast of arctic air shattered decades-old temperature records as it enveloped the eastern United States. At least nine deaths have been reported across the country connected with the polar air mass that swept over North America during the past few days. Authorities have put about half of the United States under a wind chill warning or cold weather advisory. Temperatures were expected to be 25 degrees to 35 degrees Fahrenheit (14 to 19 degrees Celsius) below normal from the Midwest to the Southeast, the National Weather Service said.- published: 08 Jan 2014
