Dr. Andreassen's research interests are frontline employees and value equity, customer (dis)satisfaction, service innovation, branding service organizations, and customer relationship management and its financial implications At TEDxBergen Professor Andreassen talks about the rapidly growing phenomena of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). He considers it to be a so called disruptive innovation -- an innovation that has the potential to shock the established players of a sector. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. "One of the most important advantages of MOOCs is that they introduce innovation in on-campus teaching." -- Prof. dr. Simone Buitendijk, vice-rector Leiden University. This video gives us a glimpse of how MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) work, including perspectives of students, instructors and the university leadership. Since 2013, Leiden University has offered MOOCs in cooperation with Coursera. Over 80,000 students have enrolled in our MOOCs on European Law (Prof. dr Stefaan van den Bogaert) and on Terrorism & Counterterrorism (Prof. dr. Edwin Bakker). We are planning to expand our offerings in 2014, adding six more MOOCs on topics including Linguistics, Areas studies, International security studies, Children's rights, The global metals challenge, and Integrity in science and scholarship. We will also offer the two already established MOOCs again, with Terrorism coming up in January 2014. You can now enroll for the MOOC on Terrorism & Counterterrorism, which begins on 6 January 2013.
