Yaphank (pronounced /'jæpeɪŋk/) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 5,945 at the time of the 2010 census.
Yaphank is a community in the south part of the Town of Brookhaven. It is served by the Longwood Central School District, except for extreme southwestern Yaphank, which is served by the South Country Central School District.
Captain Robert Robinson came to Yaphank and built his Dutch Colonial house with the building dated at 1726. He was then granted permission to dam the Carmans River to build a mill across the street from his house. The construction of this mill in 1739 was considered the founding date of the Hamlet of Yaphank.
In the mid 18th century, a man named John Homan built two mills along the Carmans River, which runs directly through the center of the town. These two mills inspired the first name for the town: Millville. The translator/author Mary Louise Booth was born in Millville in 1831. In 1846 a post office was opened in the town, but because there were thirteen other towns named "Millville" in New York state at the time, the town was renamed "Yaphank", from the local Native American word Yamphanke, meaning "bank of a river".

Long Island is an island located just off the northeast coast of the United States and a region within the U.S. state of New York. Stretching east-northeast from New York Harbor into the Atlantic Ocean, the island comprises four counties: Kings and Queens (these form the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, respectively) to the west; then Nassau and Suffolk to the east. However, many people in the New York metropolitan area (even those living in Queens and Brooklyn) colloquially use the term "Long Island" (or "The Island") exclusively to refer to the Nassau-Suffolk county area collectively, which is mainly suburban in character. North of the island is Long Island Sound, across from which lie the states of Connecticut and a small part of Rhode Island.
With a Census-estimated population of 7,804,968 in 2014, constituting nearly 40% of New York State's population, Long Island is the most populated island in any U.S. state or territory, and the 18th-most populous island in the world (ahead of Ireland, Jamaica, and Hokkaidō). Its population density is 5,571 inhabitants per square mile (2,151/km2). If Long Island geographically constituted an independent metropolitan statistical area, it would rank fourth most populous in the United States; while if it were a U.S. state, Long Island would rank 13th in population and first in population density.

In Yaphank NY, there was a Hitler Youth Camp and the headquarters of the American Bund of the Nazi Party in the 1930s and 1940s. The March of Remembrance was held there in 2012 and again in 2013 to commemorate this fact and break the silence on anti-semitism on Long Island.

Kate Monster:
My God, Princeton! Right there! Right there!
That's the spot - that's the spot - okay, a little lower -
okay, now to the left - no, my left - ohhhhhhhhhhhh!
Princeton:
Oh, my God, Kate, no one's ever touched me like this
before - you can't put your finger there -
OOH! PUT YOUR FINGER THERE!
Both:
Oh, yeah!
Gary Coleman:
You can be as loud as
The hell you want
When you're making love
Bad Idea Bears:

Kate Monster/Princeton:
Ahhhhhhh!
Gary Coleman:
Gary Coleman! You hear what?
Hell no, I won't tell them to quiet down!
Kate Monster:
Are we being too loud?
Princeton:
Yeah are we bothering someone?
Gary Coleman:
Oh, no, not at all, kids!
You keep doing what you're doing.
Bad Idea Bears:
Yeah! Louder!
Gary Coleman:
You're not allowed to be loud
At the library
At the art museum
Or at a play
But when you and your partner
Are doing the nasty
Don't behave like you're
At the ballet!
Cause you can be as loud as
The hell you want
When you're making love
Bad Idea Bears:
Making sweet, sweet love
Gary Coleman:
You can be as loud as
The hell you want
When you're making love
Bad Idea Bears:
Loud as the hell!
Loud as the hell you want!
Gary Coleman:
Don't let the neighbors
Stop you from havin' fun,
They'll have peace and quiet
When you’re good and done.
All:
Be as loud as
The hell you want
When you’re making love!
Loud as the hell you want...
Kate Monster:
Faster, Princeton!
Christmas Eve:
Brian, slow down! This not a race!
