INDONESIA THE LARGEST ECONOMY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA - G20 MEMBER
INDONESIA THE LARGEST ECONOMY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA - G20 MEMBER With a population of over 242.3 million, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and represents a sizable consumer market. In 2012, Indonesia had a gross domestic product (GDP) of $894.9 billion, making it the 16th largest economy in the world. (International Monetary Fund) The Indonesian government plays a significant role in Indonesia's market economy in which it owns over 160 enterprises and sets prices for several goods such as electricity, rice and fuel. Indonesia has the largest economy in Southeast Asia and is a member of both the G20 and APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation). According to the IMF, Indonesia is the third fastest growing economy in the G20 after India and China. The country's main economic industries include petroleum and natural gas, apparel, textiles, apparel, mining, tourism and rubber. Indonesia has endured the recent global financial crisis through its reliance on domestic consumption to drive continual economic growth. In addition, investment from both foreign and domestic sources has supported the Indonesian economy. Due to its recent economic growth and sound fiscal policies, Indonesia's debt to GDP ratio has steadily declined. Trade was been expanding swiftly between the United States and Indonesia in the last several years. Since 2005, U.S. exports to Indonesia have more than doubled from $3.1 million to $8 million in 2012. The main export categories are transportation equipment, agricultural products, chemicals, and machinery. Indonesia is actively involved with Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). APEC was formed in 1989. It serves as a multilateral forum in which Asian and Pacific economies can solve economic problems and cooperate in developing key economic sectors. Collectively, the 21 economies of APEC, which touch the Pacific Ocean, represent a large consumer market— nearly half the world's population, nearly half of all world trade and more than $31 trillion in economic output. The APEC economies are: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Republic of the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States and Vietnam. Association of SouthEast Asian Nations (ASEAN) On October 7, 2003, 10 Southeast Asian nations signed an agreement to become an economic union by 2020. The agreement sets deadlines for lowering travel restrictions and tariffs in the region of 500 million people. Trade in this ASEAN Economic Community totals more than $720 billion a year. ASEAN includes Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Vietnam, Brunei and Myanmar. Indonesia will host the 25th Annual APEC meetings in 2013- published: 22 Aug 2013

Deeply Love Indonesia
In October 2012, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in Indonesia held an event named "Indonesia Travellers" as a strategy of exploring and promoting Indonesia's tourism destinations.
The event divided 20 youngsters with different backgrounds into 5 teams and sent them to 5 different destinations.
Entitled as a host, photographer, videographer and blogger, the team was responsible to explore the destination they're visiting and make out some travel notes through photographs, videos and blogs.
The 5 destinations were Pulau Weh - Sabang, North Sumatera; Derawan Islands, North Kalimantan; Wakatobi Islands, South Sulawesi; Komodo Islands - Flores, East Nusa Tenggara; and Raja Ampat, West Papua.
In supporting the efforts to promote Indonesia through the event, Dive Indonesia took part in organizing the event, including the surveys, the exploration trips and the awarding night, and the making of this official video.
Dive Indonesia helped the exhibitor to provide underwater footages, arrange the trips, until the final awarding event. All of the underwater scenes are under Dive Indonesia's copyright.
This is the promotional video advertorial for the event Indonesia Travellers held by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of The Republic of Indonesia.
Thanks to our fellow @Lostpacker and @idtravellers agents.
Come, visit and enjoy Indonesia.
And dive it with Dive Indonesia, your best deal to Indonesia's best dive sites!

Greasy Palms: The Impacts of Indonesia's Palm Oil Plantations
This documentary concerns the social, environmental, and economic impacts of palm oil production in Indonesia, including the loss of over 2.8 million hectares of primary rainforest each year. That's
six football fields every minute!
A common ingredient in thousands of products, from anti-freeze to shampoo to potato chips, palm oil
comprises an integral part of Indonesia's economy. However, its impacts on local communities are little
known, and include conflicts over human rights, land rights, and environmental protection.
Informed by the work of local non-profit organizations, this film has been created to educate consumers around the world, to help them realize the effects of palm oil consumption, as well as how we can all be
part of a more sustainable solution.

Some of my friends also gave donation for Deki's siblings and cousins who live in the same house, so that they all can go to school.
We have been visiting Kupang for 4 times in the past 6 months (2012). Together with my wife and friends, we are able to help more than 35 kids (including Deki's family) for their tuition, books and school uniforms.
Each visit we also gave them biscuits, milk, eggs, and rice.
For our next visit we will give Vitamins for the kids.
There are many kids in Kupang (West Timor) and other parts of Indonesia who still need help.

Blue Elephants - documentary about migrant workers in Malaysian electronics industry
This short documentary shows the dire labour conditions of migrant workers in the Malaysian electronics industry. Men and women from Nepal, Indonesia and other countries come as contract workers to work for Dell, HP, Intell and other well known brand companies.
Migrant workers pay several thousands of dollars in commission to labour agents to get work permits. Workers often engage in heavy debts to obtain such permits which may grant them a stay in Malaysia for five year maximum. Time to pay off these debts is limited, while pay is low. Migrant workers face discrimination in Malaysian society as well as on the work floor, and have to accept bad housing conditions. The work load is heavy, and when worker fail to meet set targets, they risk immediate dismissal. When workers get pregnant or fall ill, they are sent back home at their own expenses.
The documentary has been produced by Moritz Siebert in cooperation with World Economy, Ecology, development (WEED), for the European Procure IT Fair campaign.

Economy Of Indonesia
http://forexcashflowsystem.allalla.com In the early 1990's Indonesia was one of the few countries spread through out the world without any major trade integration or ties. Her imported goods came from near markets such as Singapore and the Asia newly industrializing economies (NIEs). The growth of Indonesia manufacturing industries contributed to the growth of export markets. Japan provided the greatest market of oil and liquefied gases. Among the oldest Indonesia trade integration was the ASEAN, (Library of congress 1992). ASEAN It was formed in 1967 to foster economic integration among Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines, Brunei joined later. The first agreement was the industrial project agreement signed in 1976. The objectives of this agreement were to enhance establishment of joint large scale industrial projects by the member states. In 1981 there was the establishment of industrial complementation scheme which was designed to coordinate the manufacture of components such as vehicles among the member states. In 1992 a major trade accord was signed which saw the birth of ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) in 1993. This was as a result of the plan to reduce trade tariffs for manufactured good to 5 percent by 2008. An AFTA objective is to increase trade among member states by reducing trade barriers. It is also meant to help eliminate non trade barriers. AFTA has enabled member countries to promote bilateral trade; it has increased the foreign exchange volume between the member states. AFTA has led to a more open economy to the member states. Asia- published: 29 Aug 2013
