Franco may refer to:
Franco Nero (born 23 November 1941) is an Italian actor.
Nero was born Francesco Sparanero in San Prospero Parmense (province of Parma, Emilia-Romagna), the son of a sergeant in the carabinieri, originally from San Severo. He grew up in Bedonia and in Milan. He studied briefly at the Economy and Trade faculty of the local university, before leaving to study at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
Nero's first film role was a small part in La ragazza in prestito (1964), and he had his first lead role in Sergio Corbucci's Django (1966) a Spaghetti Western and one of his best known films. In 1966 from Django he went on to appear in eight more films released that year including Texas, addio (1967) and Tempo di massacro.
In 1967, he appeared in Camelot as Lancelot, where he met his long time romantic partner, and later on in life his wife, Vanessa Redgrave. Following this he appeared in the mafia film Il giorno della civetta opposite Claudia Cardinale released in 1968.
A lack of proficiency in English tended to limit these roles, although he also appeared in other English language films including The Virgin and the Gypsy (1970), Force 10 from Navarone (1978), Enter the Ninja (1981) and Die Hard 2 (1990).
Luigi Magni (born March 21, 1928) is an Italian screenwriter and film director active since 1959 as a screenwriter and 1968 as a film director.
Francesco (Franco) Battiato (born 23 March 1945 in Riposto) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer, filmmaker and, under the pseudonym Süphan Barzani, also a painter. Battiato's songs contain esoteric, philosophical and religious themes. His collaborations from 1994 onward with the nihilistic-cynical philosopher Manlio Sgalambro have added lyrical references to Emil Cioran, Friedrich Nietzsche and other anarchistic thinkers.
Together with Alice, Franco Battiato represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 1984 with the song "I treni di Tozeur".
Franco Battiato was born in 1945 in Riposto (in the former municipality of Jonia, that included also Giarre) in the province of Catania, Sicily.
At the age of 20 he moved to Milan and in 1967 he obtained the first musical contract. His single La Torre was released and Battiato appeared on TV to perform the song. He scored some success with the romantic song È l'amore. After further covers of pop songs, he met the experimental musician Juri Camisasca in 1970 and collaborated with Osage Tribe, an Italian psychedelic-progressive rock band. As a solo artist, he released the science-fiction single La convenzione (The convention), one of the finest Italian progressive rock songs of the 1970s.
Carmen Consoli (born September 4, 1974 in Catania) is an Italian singer-songwriter. She has released 7 studio albums and 2 live albums.
Consoli was born in Sicily, near the city of Catania, in the small town of San Giovanni La Punta. She started playing guitar at the age of fifteen and in 1996 she recorded her first album, Due Parole, including Amore di plastica, the song she presented during her first participation in the Festival of Sanremo.
Her next album, Confusa e felice, is the singer's most famous one. The album includes the song Confusa e felice, a huge success in Italy that made Carmen famous throughout Italy. In the same year she started her first tour, after some appearances on TV programs. The album Confusa e felice sold more than 130,000 copies, becoming her first true success.
In autumn 1998 she released her third album, Mediamente isterica, a particular album representing different kind of female figures. This album did not receive the same success as her previous work, selling around 80,000 copies, but became a favourite amongst her fans.
