Mohan Babu as the cabbie with an attitude drives the film through with Vishnu ambling along as a happy backseat driver. Director Ram Prasad has little to do, having just reworked the original. Pandit Raghava (Mohan Babu) is a scowling, taxi driver with a short fuse, who roams the mean streets of Hyderabad. His wife (Shobana) and family think he is an insurance agent. Vijay Raj (Vishnu), on the other hand, is a man of fun and modern-day pleasures. A rich youth, his life is full of swanky women and swankier lifestyle. And the dice of fate rolls out agonizing numbers for both. One needs a few thousand to pay off his debts. Shobana in Manichitrathazhu. The film which gave birth to some SAD remakes: Chandramukhi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The actress Shobana went on to receive the National Award for the best actress for an amazing portrayal of a Multiple Personality Disorder patient. Directed by: Fazil. II-unit directors: Siddique Lal, Priyadarshan, Sibi Malayil. Starring: Mohanlal, Shobana, Suresh Gopi. Manichitrathazhu (The Ornate Lock) is a 1993 psychological thriller/horror Malayalam film directed by Fazil and written by Madhu Muttam. The story is influenced by a tragedy that happened in the Alummoottil palace of a famous central Travancore ezhava family in the 19th century.[1] The movie was an unusual theme in Malayalam cinema but proceeded to become a big hit. Several other prominent directors such as Siddique-Lal, Priyadarshan and Sibi Malayil served as second-unit directors on the movie. Shobhana was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the central character Ganga. After its runaway success in Kerala, it was remade after nearly 10 years in various languages, including Kannada (Apthamitra), Tamil (Chandramukhi), Bengali (Rajmohol), and Hindi (Bhool Bhulaiyaa).
