1996 NFL on FOX Intro Week 2 (WAS vs. CHI)
(c)1996 NFL; News Corporation Intro for the Week 2 match between the Washington Redskins (0-1; with Philadelphia beating them 17-14 despite Terry Allen's 111 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns) and Chicago Bears (1-0 after hammering Dallas 22-6 at home on Monday night). The Redskins would win a low-scoring clash 10-3. Dick Stockton and Matt Millen handle the call at a humid RFK Stadium (following the departure of Hurricane Fran; this would be the final season the Redskins played at RFK)- published: 04 Sep 2013

1996 NFL on FOX Mid Doubleheader Report/Intro (Week 2 -- DAL vs. NYG)
(c)1996 NFL; News Corporation Football is back! My first upload is the FOX "mid-doubleheader" report (see Week 8 example from 1995's NBC coverage) between the early and late games for the 2nd week of the 1996 season. JB, Terry, Howie and Ronnie update the following results from the early games. EARLY RESULTS (some games still in progress): Washington 10; Chicago 3 Detroit 21; Tampa Bay 6 (late 4th quarter; that would be the final) Minnesota 20; Atlanta 17 (late 4th quarter; Vikings would win 23-17) Carolina 22; New Orleans 20 (late 4th quarter; that would also be the final) Kansas City 17; Oakland 3 (late 4th quarter; Chiefs would win 19-3 to win 12 of their previous 13 games vs. the Silver and Black) Buffalo 17; New England 10 (late 4th quarter; that score would hold after last-second goal-line stand) Pittsburgh 31; Baltimore 17 Indianapolis 21; N.Y. Jets 7 (actually suspended due to lightning -- how's that for the rotten luck the Jets had during the early-mid 1990s. Score held up once game resumed) Houston 34; Jacksonville 27 (late 4th quarter; that was the final) Next is a signoff (apparently not all markets got the 2nd game); the intro for the main late game between the defending champion Dallas Cowboys (who would get Emmitt Smith back after a frightening neck injury during the MNF opener vs. Chicago) and the New York Giants; featuring Pat Summerall and John Madden on the call; with a "thank you" from Emmitt for the thoughts and prayers for his recovery. Dallas would go on to shut out the Giants 27-0; but this would be the only victory in a 1-3 start for Dallas. COMMERCIALS Nike (if Vince Lombardi could come back); DirecTV (taunting the NFL's best that only play 1 game a week); Castrol GTX; U.S. Postal Service; COX Communications; a spot for the Jean-Claude Van Damme movie Maximum Risk; a trio of WTVZ plugs (2 for The Simpsons/Mad About You); STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner and a partial spot for FOX's NFL Sunday- published: 04 Sep 2013

1996 FOX NFL Sunday Pregame Show (Week 2)
1996 FOX NFL Sunday Pregame Show (Week 2)
(c)1996 NFL; News Corporation Apologies for the beginning of the clip. Things improve after a couple of minutes. Mostly-complete FOX NFL Sunday pregame show for Week 2 of FOX's first Super Bowl season with James Brown; Terry Bradshaw; Howie Long and Ronnie Lott in the studio in Hollywood. GAME PREVIEWS: 1. Buccaneers-Lions; Trent Dilfer's struggles from 1995 (only 1 TD pass going back to Week 4) continued into 1996; while Tyoka Jackson subs for injured defensive tackle (and new Hall-of-Famer) Warren Sapp; while Detroit's Zefross Moss starts at right tackle (Sam Rosen) 2. Falcons-Vikings; Minnesota QB Warren Moon's injury in Week 1 left him as emergency quarterback while Brad Johnson gets his first start. Vikings Derrick Alexander and Darryl Talley and Falcons Elbert Shelley and Craig "Ironhead" Heyward also out (Kenny Albert) 3. Carolina-New Orleans; Rickey Jackson day; as the former Saints standout has his number retired; while Kevin Greene and Lamar Lathon collected 5 of Carolina's 7 sacks against the Falcons (Mike Breen) 4. New England-Buffalo; Patriots attempt to avoid 0-2 start; rookie WR Terry Glenn would play hurt (Shawn Jefferson wouldn't play) and Bills head coach Marv Levy joins Wall of Fame (Eric Clemmons; barely visible in front of a drenched camera lens) 5. Washington-Chicago; following the Ronnie Lott-Bryan Cox interview; Cox's impact is discussed (along with Washington's struggles) (Matt Millen) After some discussion over the Rams-49ers game later that day (in which the Niners romped 34-0); JB teases the On-Tap segment for what's coming up; including an interview by Ronnie Lott with new Chicago linebacker Bryan Cox; a Pam Oliver interview with Deion Sanders; and Eric Clemmons doing a piece on the Buffalo Bills being considered a contender again. STORIES 1. Tribute to Bill MacPhail (legendary head of CBS Sports as well as CNN Sports who died the previous week on September 4) 2. Other game notes (KC-OAK; Chiefs won 12 of last 13 and no Jeff Hostetler; BAL-PIT; 2nd game for Ravens with Mike Tomczak starting; IND-NYJ; Colts looking for first 2-0 start since their last playoff year in Baltimore in 1977; HOU-JAX; first time the Jaguars apparently were favorites; CIN-SD; DEN-SEA; John Elway plays the most games of anyone in a Bronco uniform; MIA-AZ; Dolphins' new running game with Karim Abdul-Jabbar; PHI-GB; Monday night game) (Brown) 3. Cowboys-Giants preview; with the focus on the Cowboys' struggles on their opener (a series of mental mistakes; getting duped on gadget plays and a frightening back injury suffered by Emmitt Smith) (includes interview with sideline reporter Pam Oliver) 4. Deion Sanders; here Prime Time discusses playing both ways (the first player to do so on a regular basis since Chuck Bednarik in 1960) -- albeit this was a result of Michael Irvin serving a 5-game suspension following a March 1996 cocaine possession arrest (Oliver) 5. Bryan Cox; featuring the new Bear linebacker whose intense, wild on-field demeanor was tempered by his kinder, off-field approach (Lott) 6. Final Comments; Ronnie Lott mentions Saints Winfred Tubbs; Greg Jackson and Lorenzo Neal were benched due to missing a team meeting; Howie predicts a heavy Giants blitz vs. Dallas; while Terry mentions that Detroit would use Barry Sanders in goal-line situations (something the Lions had typically avoided)...but as a receiver (panel) Commercials include Boston Market ($4 Chicken Carver Combo); Porsche 911 Carrera; FOX promos (network premiere of Demolition Man; Melrose Place's season premiere); a sponsor billboard (Boston Market/MCI/Sony PlayStation and Porsche); Starter/Foot Locker (with Greg Lloyd); Radio Shack; Tinactin (John Madden); Denorex (Jimmy Johnson); Foot Locker Drive to the Super Bowl contest; Chrysler (National Chrysler Clearance); WTVZ promo ("Laughin' Lineup" of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper; The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air; The Simpsons and Mad About You); 360 Communications; another WTVZ Mad About You spot; American Express (featuring Jerry Seinfeld); Advil (Steve Young); Adidas; 1-800-COLLECT (Brady Bunch spoof); FOX promo for the original movie Dark Angel; Budget Rent-a-Car; Adidas (Keyshawn Johnson); FOX promo for short-lived game show Big Deal; double WTVZ Simpsons promo; Chevy-Geo dealers (O-zone); WTVZ spot for Richard Bey; Sony PlayStation (remember Crash Bandicoot?); Porsche 911 Turbo; Porsche/FOX Sports QB Rating Tracker; Hamburger Helper (Italian Herb) and Hamburger Helper/FOX Super Bowl ticket promo and finally Frosted Cheerios (with Gary Owens announcing and Wayne Knight); Jerry Seinfeld going grocery shopping with American Express and 1-800-COLLECT (Kansas City's dynamic duo of Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith)- published: 04 Sep 2013
