Hani was the
Deputy Managing Director in
Whirlpool in
Hong Kong for nearly ten years before she retired to the UK. She has vast experience in strategic administration, business diversification and cost accounting.
During her spare time in Hong Kong she volunteered for a number of charitable organisation. For instance, she was a
Director of '
Warehouse', a not-for-profit youth organization providing
SPACE for young people to encourage them to have self-respect and develop their creativity through active participation and education. She was also
Vice Chairperson of the
Board and Chairperson of the Fund
Raising Committee of the Physically Handicapped and Abled
Body Association in Hong Kong. Because of her contribution to the services for the physically handicapped, she was nominated for the
Outstanding Board Member award of the
Social Welfare Authority in Hong Kong. In an effort to assist ex-offenders, she was appointed a
Member of the Industries Committee of
The Society for the
Rehabilitation of Ex-offenders in Hong Kong and provided mentoring advice for ex-prisoners.
In 2004 Hani retired from her work with Whirlpool and moved to join her children who were based in the UK. After her arrival, she continued her charitable work and became a mentor for
The Prince's Trust supporting young people to start and develop their own business. She became a mentor for
Teach First providing advice for exceptionally bright graduates being trained for teaching in challenging schools. She also provided coaching in entrepreneurship and business skills for students in
Westminster School and
Bethnal Green Technical School.
From
2005 –
2007, she was the
Executive Coordinator (volunteer) for
Barts and the
London Hospital NHS Trust where she assisted the Director of
Cancer Services in improving the organizational structure and internal systems of the department. For several years until
2012, she was a trustee of
Golden Lane Housing, a subsidiary of
MENCAP, which provides housing solutions for people with disabilities. She was also a trustee of Outward, a subsidiary of the Newlon
Group, which provides care and support for individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
In recognition of her many contributions to social services, she won the
Mulan Award for contribution to community in 2012. She was also shortlisted in
2013 for the
Asian Women Achievement Award for social and humanity.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded a grant to Ming-Ai (
London) Institute for a 3-year ground breaking project on the
British Chinese Workforce
Heritage in
London, taking place between June 2012 and May
2015. In the first phase the project haslooked at the British Chinese in the professions of Seafaring, Hairdressing, Laundry, Catering,
Navy and
Military.
羅馬麗花曾在惠而浦的香港分公司擔任了近10年的副經理職位,退休後她移居英國,在策略管理、多元化經營和成本核算方面,她有著非常豐富的經驗。
在香港時,她利用閒餘時間為一些慈善組織擔任義工。例如,她曾是非營利組織「Warehouse」的主管。該組織通鼓勵青年人尊重自己並發展創造力。她也曾擔任香港傷健協會董事會副主席及該會的籌款委員會主席。由於她對殘疾人士作出的貢獻,她被提名香港社會福利署傑出董事會成員大獎。由於她積極幫助出獄囚犯,她被任命為香港釋囚康復社團工業委員會會員,以為釋囚提供指導建議。
2004年,羅馬麗花從惠而浦退休。她移居英國,和長期居住在英國的孩子團聚。到達英國之後,她依然繼續她的慈善工作,並且成為支持青年創業的王子信託基金的一名指導人員。她成為Teach First的指導員,為專在具挑戰性學校的任教老師提供建議。同時,她也為威斯敏斯特學校和貝思納爾格林技術學校的學生提供企業管理和商業技能的培訓。
