It fell on Kerry Livgren to fill the void. The new compositions retained much of the classically inspired complexity of Livgren's previous work. Kansas recorded the album at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana. The Studio in the Country was so named because, as Kerry Livgren described on In the Studio with Redbeard in the episode spotlighting Leftoverture that "It was in the middle of a swamp. We'd walk out of the studio and there would be gators in front of the studio, mosquitos the size of B-52s and at times armadillos would run into the control room, laughing." Leftoverture begins with the hit single "Carry On Wayward Son". Kerry Livgren wrote the song as a sequel to the final song, "The Pinnacle", from the previous album, Masque.

The Verrückt in Kansas City's Schlitterbahn Water Park is expected to be the tallest, fastest, steepest and probably the scariest waterslide in the world. Riders drop from about 17 storeys up, and after plunging almost 90 degrees down a slope, they are then propelled up a five storey camelback hill using Schlitterbahn's Master Blaster system before racing down the other side and hitting a straight before eventually cruising to a halt. Verrückt, means 'insane' in German, and the ride certainly lives up to it. Thrill-seekers will begin by climbing 264 steps to reach the top where they will wait on a deck made from railroad tanker cars. Along with three friends or strangers, they will be seated in a four-person inflatable raft and set loose. Designed by Jeff Henry who co-owns the theme park, the slide tower is built from railroad tanker cars that have been cut and welded into a single vertical tower. It is fitted with bright lights that illuminate it as the thrill-seekers come down. Jeff is also responsible for designing the special conveyer system that transports the rafts back to the top. Plot
The Crowley Lumber Company's wartime government contract is threatened when a series of accidents thwart production. While Arizona and Quebec try to keep the lumber camp and the lumber mill operating, their old friend Kansas arrives to help out. Kansas soon learns that a ring of saboteurs operating in the lumber company are about to throttle the nation's timber industry and the leader of the spies is operating nearby. Kansas and his friends must round up the ringleader and his traitorous henchman before serious damage is done to the Allied war effort.

Plot
The crooked manager of a fruit plantation, unknown to the company officials, in a banana republic is mistreating the workers and refuses to pay competitive prices for the crops and to the laborers, and also causing some sabotage problems . Steve Walsh began to experience writer's block prior to the recording, and his contribution to the album would ultimately be limited to co-authoring three songs. It fell on Kerry Livgren to fill the void. The new compositions retained much of the classically inspired complexity of Livgren's previous work. Kansas recorded the album at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana. The Studio in the Country was so named because, as Kerry Livgren described on In the Studio with Redbeard in the episode spotlighting Leftoverture that "It was in the middle of a swamp. We'd walk out of the studio and there would be gators in front of the studio, mosquitos the size of B-52s and at times armadillos would run into the control room, laughing."
Leftoverture begins with the hit single "Carry On Wayward Son". Kerry Livgren wrote the song as a sequel to the final song, "The Pinnacle", from the previous album, Masque.

World's tallest waterslide the 'Verrückt' to debut in Kansas City in May

The Verrückt in Kansas City's Schlitterbahn Water Park is expected to be the tallest, fastest, steepest and probably the scariest waterslide in the world. Riders drop from about 17 storeys up, and after plunging almost 90 degrees down a slope, they are then propelled up a five storey camelback hill using Schlitterbahn's Master Blaster system before racing down the other side and hitting a straight before eventually cruising to a halt.
Verrückt, means 'insane' in German, and the ride certainly lives up to it. Thrill-seekers will begin by climbing 264 steps to reach the top where they will wait on a deck made from railroad tanker cars. Along with three friends or strangers, they will be seated in a four-person inflatable raft and set loose.
Designed by Jeff Henry who co-owns the theme park, the slide tower is built from railroad tanker cars that have been cut and welded into a single vertical tower. It is fitted with bright lights that illuminate it as the thrill-seekers come down. Jeff is also responsible for designing the special conveyer system that transports the rafts back to the top.
Verrückt is currently undergoing extensive testing so that it is completely safe for those brave or crazy enough to ride it when it opens this Memorial Day Weekend!

Drastic Measures is the ninth studio album by American rock band Kansas, released in 1983.
The shift in direction that Kansas took with Vinyl Confessions took its toll before recording began on this album. After hearing that Christian fans of Kansas were using lyrics from Vinyl Confessions in religious tracts and handing them out prior to the band's live appearances, violinist Robby Steinhardt grew tired of Kansas' new Christian affiliation and quit the band at the end of the 1982 tour.
Despite the success of Vinyl Confessions, both among mainstream and Christian audiences, the album was criticized in some quarters—especially by Rolling Stone—for being too repetitive of Kansas' prior efforts. Drastic Measures was new lead singer John Elefante's attempt to change that perception, and his compositions dominate the album, with Kansas co-founder Kerry Livgren only contributing three tracks. Because the sound of Drastic Measures is more akin to the successful records that Loverboy and Foreigner were putting out at the time, Livgren was greatly displeased. This is bluntly expressed in his lyrics for "Mainstream", which are as much a criticism of the band's new direction as they are a slam at the music industry in general.
With the exception of the last three songs on the record, any Christian lyrical content was mostly indirect and oblique, although this was primarily due to Livgren holding back a number of songs for his future projects. Combined with a strange choice for an album cover, the new Kansas presented on Drastic Measures confused long-time fans and disappointed Christian listeners. The album was the band's lowest-charting record since their debut in 1974 and the tensions within the band eventually became too much. Kansas officially disbanded after giving a New Year's Eve concert at the end of their 1983 tour.
Livgren and Dave Hope left the band to found AD, while Elefante went on to become a successful producer of Contemporary Christian music bands like Petra as well as a popular CCM performer in his own right.

Kansas (
i/ˈkænzəs/) is a U.S. state located in the Midwestern United States. It is named after the Kansas River which flows through it, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native American tribe, which inhabited the area. The tribe's name (natively kką:ze) is often said to mean "people of the wind" or "people of the south wind," although this was probably not the term's original meaning. Residents of Kansas are called "Kansans."
For thousands of years what is now Kansas was home to numerous and diverse Native American tribes. Tribes in the Eastern part of the state generally lived in villages along the river valleys. Tribes in the Western part of the state were semi-nomadic and hunted large herds of bison. Kansas was first settled by European Americans in the 1830s, but the pace of settlement accelerated in the 1850s, in the midst of political wars over the slavery issue. When officially opened to settlement by the U.S. government in 1854, abolitionist Free-Staters from New England and pro-slavery settlers from neighboring Missouri rushed to the territory to determine if Kansas would become a free state or a slave state. Thus, the area was a hotbed of violence and chaos in its early days as these forces collided, and was known as Bleeding Kansas. The abolitionists eventually prevailed and on January 29, 1861, Kansas entered the Union as a free state. After the Civil War, the population of Kansas grew rapidly, when waves of immigrants turned the prairie into farmland. Today, Kansas is one of the most productive agricultural states, producing high yields of wheat, sorghum and sunflowers. Kansas is the 15th most extensive and the 33rd most populous of the 50 United States.
