Sint Maarten (Dutch pronunciation: [sɪnt ˈmaːrtə(n)]) is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It encompasses the southern half of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, while the northern half of the island constitutes the French overseas collectivity of Saint-Martin. Its capital is Philipsburg.

Before 10 October 2010, Sint Maarten was known as the Island Territory of Sint Maarten (Dutch: Eilandgebied Sint Maarten), and was one of five island territories (Eilandgebieden) that constituted the Netherlands Antilles.

In 1493, during Christopher Columbus' second voyages to the West Indies, upon first sighting the island he named it Isla de San Martín after Saint Martin of Tours because it was 11 November, St. Martin Day. However, though he claimed it as a Spanish territory, Columbus never landed there, and Spain made the settlement of the island a low priority.

The French and Dutch, on the other hand, both coveted the island. While the French wanted to colonize the islands between Trinidad and Bermuda, the Dutch found San Martín a convenient halfway point between their colonies in New Amsterdam (present day New York) and Brazil. With few people inhabiting the island, the Dutch easily founded a settlement there in 1631, erecting Fort Amsterdam as protection from invaders. Jan Claeszen Van Campen became its first governor, and soon thereafter the Dutch East India Company began their salt mining operations. French and British settlements sprang up on the island as well. Taking note of these successful colonies and wanting to maintain their control of the salt trade, the Spanish now found St. Martin much more appealing. The Eighty Years' War which had been raging between Spain and the Netherlands provided further incentive to attack.

The fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman took place on February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida, United States. Trayvon Martin was a 17-year-old African American male who was unarmed. George Zimmerman was a 28-year-old multi-racial Hispanic American, who was the community watch coordinator for the gated community where the shooting took place.

While on a private errand, Zimmerman saw Martin walking inside the gated community where Martin and his father were visiting his father's fiancée. Zimmerman called the Sanford Police Department to report Martin's behavior as suspicious. Shortly afterwards, there was an altercation, which ended with Zimmerman fatally shooting Martin once in the chest at close range.

When police arrived on the scene Zimmerman told them that Martin had attacked him and that he had shot Martin in self-defense. Zimmerman was bleeding from the nose and two vertical lacerations on the back of his head.EMTs treated Zimmerman at the scene, after which he was taken to the Sanford Police Department. Zimmerman was detained and questioned for approximately five hours. A statement was videotaped, and he was then released without being charged. Police said that they had not found evidence to contradict his assertion of self-defense.

Jordan Davis (born January 21, 1983 in Salt Lake City, Utah) is an American soccer player who currently plays for Atlanta Silverbacks in the North American Soccer League.

Davis grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia, and attended Stars Mill High School, and began his college soccer at Charleston Southern University, transferring to Georgia State University before his sophomore season. During his college years Davis also played with the Columbus Shooting Stars and the Richmond Kickers Future in the USL Premier Development League.

Undrafted out of college, Davis joined the Atlanta Silverbacks organization as a player and coach, playing three more seasons in the USL Premier Development League for the Silverbacks' PDL affiliate, Atlanta Silverbacks U23s. He went on to play three seasons for the Silverbacks in the PDL, leading the team in minutes played, before leaving when the entire Silverbacks organization went on hiatus at the end of the 2008 season.

After serving as the Director of Coaching for the Coweta Cannons youth soccer club in Newnan, Georgia and an assistant coach at Clayton State University, Davis returned to the professional ranks in 2011 when signed with the reformed Atlanta Silverbacks for their debut season in the North American Soccer League. He made his debut for his new team on April 9, 2011 in a game against the NSC Minnesota Stars

Eric Marlon Bishop (born December 13, 1967), professionally known as Jamie Foxx, is an American actor, singer-songwriter, rapper, stand-up comedian, and talk radio host who began playing the piano when he was five years old. As an actor, his work in the film Ray earned him the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Actor as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a musical/comedy. He is also a Grammy Award winning musician, producing three albums which have charted highly on the Billboard 200: Unpredictable, which topped the chart, Best Night of My Life and Intuition.

Born in Terrell, Texas, Foxx was raised by his mother's adoptive parents. He performed in high school and was awarded with a scholarship to United States International University. In his twenties, Foxx began performing stand-up at comedy clubs, and eventually joined the cast of In Living Color in 1991; this exposure helped him land film roles and star in his own sitcom, The Jamie Foxx Show. He released his debut album, Peep This, in 1994, but he did not gain significant musical success until 2004 when he was featured in Twista's song "Slow Jamz". Also in 2004, Foxx played critically acclaimed roles in the films Collateral and Ray. He released his second album, Unpredictable, in 2005, which was helped by his collaboration on Kanye West's number-one single "Gold Digger". His third album Intuition was released in 2008 and was anchored by the single "Blame It". Foxx released his fourth studio album, Best Night of My Life, in 2010.

Damien Martin (born 2 October 1946 in Banagher, County Offaly) is an Irish retired sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club St. Rynagh's and was a member of the Offaly senior inter-county team from the 1960s until the 1980s. Martin has the distinction of being presented with the very first All-Star award. He was inducted into the Offaly Hurling Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Leinster GAA Hall of Fame in 2008. Damien's son Eunan was a member of the All-Ireland winning Offaly Hurling team in 1998 making Damien and Eunan the only father and son combination with All-Ireland medals in Co. Offaly.

Martin played his club hurling with his local club called St. Rynagh's. His tally of thirteen senior county championship winners' medals, annexed between 1965 and 1987, is an Offaly record. Martin won his medals in 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1981, 1982 and 1987. He won his first twelve medals on the field of play and the thirteenth as sub goalkeeper in 1987 when David Hughes was between the posts. Three of these county championship victories were subsequently converted into Leinster club titles for Martin.
